20 Most Recent Electric Stanley Tre500 Staple Gun / Sharpshooter Questions & Answers

  • This may or may not help, but I have one that was doing the same (as many as five at one trigger pull). I gave it the little WD40 and it still did the same. Then, I thought maybe it was the effect of not being used for a while. I proceeded to pull the trigger several hundred times (you can do this without staples loaded) and now, mine works fine. Seems to have helped.

Hi Nancy,

Do you mean it rapid fires, or do you mean fires the staples to deep?
If it fires too deep, the adjustment for that is on the back of the gun. The + and - give more/less depth. Adjust it towards the - direction to get the brad/staple to no penetrate as far.

Thanks,

Handie Andie

Please download the instruction sheet from the following link which explains how to load the brads. Make sure you have the correct size of brads mentioned at the bottom of the instruction sheet.

Make sure you are using the right staples for it. This will prevent lockups. You can also try spraying the staple track with a dry silicone lubricant.

The Plus and Minus is to set the strike pressure. Low for cork board, high for oak paneling.

Here is the manual, the TRE550 is close enough.

Stanley TRE550 Electric Staple Brad Nail Gun

Staples newly purchased will always be attached when purchased and that answers your question...wherever the device u are loading has a horizontal channel, there will be a loading window at the end. Take it apart by realeasing the cap or spring at the bottom and sliding the train of staples into the channel inside. Replace cap or spring lever to original position and secure. Stapler is now loaded.

Morning Rhonda,

According to Stanley's own website, the TRE500 will only use either 1/2" or 5/8" brads.

If it's still under warranty, I'd contact the people who sold it you. This is not working correctly
