My granddaughter broke the screen on her new leappad 2 just 2 days after Christmas. I immediately went online to see if I could get it repaired or find a replacement screen and found this link. What a blessing!! I called the customer support number (1-866-334-5327) and was told that they do not repair them but would give me a one time replacement if I sent a picture to the link they e-mailed me. I did so and 5 to 7 days later, I have a much happier granddaughter (and grandma!). Plugged it into the computer, everything back on it and she is playing on it now!!! Thanks for this info! Very easy process!

As we all know leap frog will not refurbish the leap pad but they will send you ONE new unit. But my replacement unit just shut off completely and no longer powers up. Leap frog will not send another or fix the existing. So as a cell phone repair man, I opened the two of them up and combined them to make one working leap pad. You can also find broken leap pads at thrift stores and on ebay very cheap that will have your parts. I made a guide for everyone so you can do it yourself and save a bundle. Not to mention all the money you dumped into this thing after you bought it. games expansions etc..... Here is my guide link.
hope this helps you out.

I contacted Leap Pad through their website and was replied to fairly quickly. I told them my situation - that my son had broken the screen of his leap pad. It had fallen off of his bed onto a night stand and cracked in 2 places. Leap pad informed me that they didn't have a repair service for cracked screen but, instead, offered a one time replacement of the device. Following this response, they asked me for some information [ie. My name, address, date of purchase, purchase location as well as the code located in the back battery compartment, etc.]. When I provided the info, they sent me a reference number that I had to write on the screen of the broken device with permanent marker and send them a photograph to confirm. Afterwards, they told me that they had verified the photograph and information and that my new replacement device should be delivered in 7-10 days [mine arrived in 4 business days]. There was no need to return the broken device whatsoever. I was so satisfied with their level of service. They even helped me transfer my purchased apps from the broken device to the new one.

I called a few moments ago. They asked me to take a picture also. I feel pretty sure a new one will be sent. I plan to keep the old one for replacement parts if needed. Ours broke last December, I'm just now calling - thanks to this thread.

They will replace it once if you call the number everyone listed and email a picture of the defaced screen with the number they send you written on the screen. This post was a huge help!!

Yes, I just called that number that everyone's been calling and talked to them about it... They do complete a 1 time replacement for cracked screens for the simple fact, they don't OFFER any screens for sale for replacement so there's no other way to fix it.
They send you an e-mail and you just have to compile with the e-mail requirements and they send you a new one!! I'm so happy and my son is too :)

Just want to also say that I originally called Leapfrog and told them my daughter dropped hers and the screen cracked. They said they would not replace it due to the fact that it was from an accident. I then emailed them without telling them it was dropped. Here is a copy of the email. If you tell them it was due to accident they won't help you. I emailed them the information then they sent me a code to write on the screen and take a picture of. They are now sending me a new one.
We're sorry to inform you that we do not repair the screen or offer a replacement screen for the Leappad2.
If the device cracked due to an accident, this voids the warranty of the product, but please provide us the following information.
Place and date of purchase:
Alphanumeric codes engraved or stamped inside the right battery compartment of the product. (e.g 1020120AG).

The screen on my son's LeapPad 2 somehow became cracked and isn't able to work properly anymore. I just got done calling the 1-800-701-5327 number from their website. I was told that they do not replace screens or have replacement parts, and that I need to simply return to the store of purchase, and have them exchange it. Basically, I'm supposed to tell the store that Leapfrog told them to replace it...and I was given a reference # to call back with if they do not help me at the store. I guess we will try to return! Fingers crossed...

I called today and the guy told me that a cracked screen isn't covered under warranty and that I would receive an email about it later. My son cracked his screen a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't think to contact them until I saw this thread. Honestly a little disappointed in my experience so far.

Anyone who didn't get their leap pad replaced needs to call back and talk to someone else, I just called this morning on my daughter's leap pad and all I had to do was respond with a picture of the cracked screen with an rma# written across the screen that they gave me and they're sending us a new one, free of charge! Try again, for real, these things are too expensive to just buy another and if they're replacing some then they know there's a problem. Ours is only 3 months old, they said as long as its less than a year old they'll cover it.

Received my new LeapPad and the whole process was extremely easy! Just as prev posts said, I called told them the screen was cracked and they asked me all the same questions, and I told them I really didn't know what had happened because I was not in the room when she and her sister were each playing with their LeapPad's I got them last Christmas. They sent me the email with-in minutes, I took the picture and returned the email and with-in a week I was able to give my granddaughter her new LeapPad!! The look on her face was priceless.......LeapFrog made her a happy little girl as well as a happy grandma!! I am still AMAZED....... I kept waiting for the "catch" which never came. :) LeapFrog again I say thank you! We have many Leapfrog products and after this I can truly say we will remain a LeapFrog family for years to come. <3

Will they send a new one out even though it was the purchasers fault?
Posted on Oct 20, 2012
I just called the number and told them that our screen is cracked. I was told they do not have replacement parts or repairs. I was told my only option is to buy a new unit. I'm very disappointed. It's ridiculous to me that they expect me to make this large purchase and then throw it away if the screen cracks. It's a kids toy and is bound to suffer abuse no matter how careful this kids try to be. Even more ridiculous is that they expect me to buy another one! Why would I invest more money knowing that if this happens again I have no options?!
Has anyone replaced the screen themselves? Or taken it to a place that replaces screens? How do you get the right screen?

I just called LeapFrog about my daughters LeapPad2 and all they could offer me is 50% off a new one online. They said cracked screens are not covered under warranty. I got the email from them right away but I have to send a pic of the unit with the RMA# written across the screen before I will get the code. He also told me they no longer make LeapPad2's so I hope I don't have to pay much more to get her a new one.

Yeah just buy a new one

They are sending me a replacement. Make sure you tell them you saw they do this one time fix for you online or they will tell you warranty is voided.

My 4 year old broke his screen while playing last night. He got it for Christmas from his Grandmother so I was really excited when I stumbled on this site and saw that it seemed pretty easy to get a fix. Well, I just called the 1-866-334-5327 number listed on this site and they told me that they could NOT help me! They said I have to go back to the place where it was purchased with the receipt and tell them "I talked with Leapfrog and they told me to bring this in for a free unit." Somehow I don't think that sounds like it's going to work, but I guess I'll give it a try. Not sure why I got a different response than everyone else. ???

I bought 4 LeapPad2's for my granddaughters this Christmas. One just called crying because she dropped and the screen broke. It turns on but doesn't go past the player select screen. Yes, I bought games, cases, chargers, screen protectors, apps, etc.
Do I return to store or is it really as easy as contacting LeapFrog?
I would be so happy so long as the unit is new and works! I'm a little worried since thelinuxmotion.org had an issue with the replacement unit.
My unit is still under warranty, so I want a brand new unit with a brand new warranty!

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
Here's a link to this great service

The front glass is just a protector for the LCD screen. If your TV turns on and the picture looks ok (may be a little color variation around the crack if front glass is pushing on it, variation OK black Bad) If the picture looks within the range described then replace the glass. It is just a piece of standard glass and a pretty easy diy job. If the LCD screen is broken the repair will be more than the replacement cost. Sad fact US TV repairmen make a living wage while the workers that assembled you TV wouldn't be able to buy lunch here with what they made putting it together.
