It started as a small line and gradually increased to 105 cm in size. and now it has been remaining at this size for 6 months. So kindly help me to know the reason behind this problem and what is the solution ?. Hope you will reply me soon and thanks in advance. Regards, Retheesh Xavier xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Take it back to the retailer. Unless it is more than a year old. The graphics chip or screen has failed.

bad LCD (no photos posted of screen , oops)
so bad LCD or CCFL tubes dead.
    or loose cables to LCD.
    this is a 2009 PC and 2008/0
can also have the GPU chips bad called the "lead free BGA solder ball fiasco"
for those with DV6 ask for test to prove what is bad.
this CCFL PC, has only 1 tube. so its
dim, yellow ,or dead or intermittent
will not go dead in one area 1 of 4 possible like PCs. so is LCD or GPU failure.

You are not alone with this problem. Some lines (like mine) run vertically rather than horizontally. The solution - sue HP. These screens have a known fault ie the Nvidia graphics chip is known to be the culprit. The company knows all about this issue but expect us to pay to put it right - sue them, you can do it online for around £35 (UK).

SOURCE: Vertical white line on laptop display

Yes, this is a defective screen. The only fix is to replace the screen. It's called a column of dead pixels. Since it is under warranty, contact HP to have them warranty it out or take it back to the place you purchased it from for an exchange. Please take a moment and give this answer a good rating of fixya. Thank you.

SOURCE: Display has lines that run through it

they can be horizontal. I think your graphics card on your motherboard is bad. you should consider sending it to acer so they can replace it with a new one.

Common problem.
There are small VRAM BGA chips.
1 or 2 of them needs REFLOW.
Basically needs board service.

I have a fine horizontal line running 2/3rd's of my hp mini note book.should i be concerned?

This could be a hardware issue with the LCD screen of display card. To confirm the same, connect an external monitor and check if the same line appears on external monitor. If external mitor works fine, then its a LCD defect. If you have same issue on both LCD and External monitor, then it could be due to display card. In either cases you may need to take to service center.

HP Pavilion F1903 flat screen monitor dimmer with grey lines

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for:
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Hp pavillion dv6-1030us just order my new screen how do i take the front and back bezel off looking for a video link not finding all the screws on front thanks

The procedure to replace the display is outlined in the maintenance and service guide.

Refer to the Display Assembly beginning on page 81 for the "complete" disassembly instructions.

The maintenance guide gives you step by step procedures to remove the monitor and most importantly... how to remove the bezel "properly".

Visual problem

The line you see can be because of faulty LCD or faulty Graphic Card.
To make sure what is the actual cause of the issue, try the steps listed below for which you need a desktop monitor.
Turn on the Notebook and connect the Desktop Monitor the VGA Port of the Notebook and turn it on.
Now, hold the FN key and press the F4 key once to toggle the display between the LCD and the Desktop Monitor connected.
If you see the line on the Desktop monitor also, the issue is with the Graphic Card. However, if the line appears only on the LCD of the Notebook and not on the Desktop Monitor, the issue is with the LCD.
The Notebook needs to be repaired in both the situations.
However, if the issue is with the Graphic Card, the motherboard needs to be changed since the Graphic Card is soldered on to the motherboard. Additionally, if the issue is found to be with the LCD, the LCD Display  of the Notebook needs to be changed.
I recomend you to go for a new Notebook if you are not comfirtable since the Motherboard or LCD Replacement will cost you a bomb...
Hope this helps...
