There is an adjustment for this sensitivity go to control panel and look up the mouse if there is not icon on the tray to do any options. What your looking for in short is options in the option tick sensitivity there you can adjust it for your comfort. Locate this and your on your way. If you cannot find any touch pad information go to your manufactures web site and download the driver or software for your touch pad. It should drop to the task bar as an icon below. Or if you have the show all icons turned off turn it on it may be in there. The best way to do that is right click in the tray where the icons are and select show all icons or if you see the mouse pad icon there open it and tick options.
That is what I would do Win 7 may have loaded it but the actual configuration files may not have been downloaded, you may also wish to check out the Windows Updates and tick on all the updates you have missed you may find the software there for the mouse pad updates.
That is all I can offer maybe someone else has a better answer here. John

SOURCE: touchpad won't scroll on hp pavilion zv5000 running windows xp

Hi Natasha

ZV5000
To get the scroll function working again, do the following and follow these directions exactly.

1. Click Start >Control Panel
2. Double click Mouse Icon
3. Click on Gestures tab
4. Place a Checkmark against Use Vertical Scrolling function and Use Vertical Scrolling function.
5. Click Apply > OK
6. Click the Setting button to adjust the scroll speed.

If you have tried the above and you couldn't see the "Gestures" tab, do the following.

Download the ALPS Touchpad Driver from the HP website >here< (if the link doesn't work, go to the HP website, find the ZV5000 and look for the ALPS Touchpad driver) and save it on your desktop.

Now uninstall the old drivers using Device Manager
1. Right Click on "My computer" and select Properties
2. Click on Hardware tab > Device Manager button.
3. Click on the + sign next to Mice and pointing devices.
4. Right Click on the Alps Pointing Device and select uninstall.
5. Double Click your new driver file that was saved on your desktop, to install it.
5. Restart the ZV5000. Windows will detect the hardware and will load the new drivers for it.

Check to see if the scroll function works. If not, do the following

1. Click Start >Control Panel
2. Double click Mouse Icon
3. Click on Gestures tab
4. Place a Checkmark against Use Vertical Scrolling function and Use Vertical Scrolling function.
5. Click Apply > OK
6. Click the Setting button to adjust the scroll speed.

If you have followed exactly what I have said here, the scroll function will work fine. Let me know how you go!

Best wishes

How to cdr repair corrupted image?

If you are using windows 7 or later, you can try opening the folder in windows explorer, right click on the CDR, go to properties and then the previous versions tab. It may have kept an older version.
I can't remember if XP also kept previous versions and it also depends on your configuration, so it is not definite that you will have them.
Another, small, possibility is to look in the same folder and see if you have a file which begins backup_of_... and your filename. But this keeps only one previous copy so if you have saved the file more than once since Wednesday your backup will be too new.

Try the sensitivity adjustment on your touchpad. I have never heard of a AC cord replacement doing that, will, you live and you learn, I suppose.

Dell xps m1330 vista home curser jumps when typing

Have you loaded your touchpad drivers? The only time I've ever seen than happen is when the touchpad drivers aren't loaded. The touch is extra sensitive if your palm(s) just barely touch the pad.

By loading the touchpad drivers, you should be all set

Sencitivity of touch pad how to adjust

Nearly every modern laptop computer comes with a touchpad for on-screen interaction. Depending on your operating system and touchpad driver versions, you can update the speed, sensitivity, tap speed and clicking functions of your computer's touch pad. Accessing these settings and updating them to meet your needs is a quick and easy process with both the Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X operating systems.

Change Touchpad Settings in Windows1. Open the Control Panel by clicking the Windows Start button and selecting "Control Panel." Depending on your Windows configuration, this option may be located within the Start Menu's "Settings" sub-folder.
2. Double-click the Control Panel's "Mouse" icon.
  • 3. Click the Touchpad tab. This tab can have one of several names, depending on your computer manufacturer, your operating system version and your device drivers. However, the most common labels include "Touch Pad," "Device Settings" and "Dell Touchpad." If you do not see any option resembling these, you may not be able adjust your laptop's touchpad settings. Refer to the "Warnings" section if this applies to your computer.

  • 4. Locate the "Scrolling Settings" area within the touchpad properties tab. Adjust the settings to meet your needs and then click "OK" to close the dialog boxes and confirm your changes.

  • for MAC OS

    1
  • Click the Apple menu and then select "Preferences."

  • 2

Click the "Keyboard & Mouse" icon.

  • 3

Select the "Trackpad" option from the top of the Keyboard & Mouse dialog box.

  • 4

Adjust the trackpad settings to meet your needs, and then close the dialog box to confirm your changes.

Please tell me how to rduce the sensitivity of touchpad on my Advent laptop that is 3 months old before it drives me to insanity!

It almost seems like magic when you type something on your notebook and the cursor jumps over the document because your palm touched the touchpad. So your text appear all over the screen and not where it ought to be. How do you solve this problem?

It is because of the input sensitivity of the notebook touchpad is too high. Many laptops come with a special driver (Ex:. Synaptics TouchPad) that can reduce the sensitivity of the touchpad. Without using such a driver, the touchpad is integrated as a normal PS/2 mouse and this means very high sensitivity. To solve this 'highly sensitive' problem,

    • Right-click on 'My Computer' and then select 'Properties' in the context menu. This opens 'System Properties' dialog box.
    • Click on the 'Hardware' tab and then on the 'Device Manager'. Here you will ?nd an entry titled 'Mice and other pointing devices' in the 'Device Manager' window. When you double-click on this entry, it shows the touchpad as a PS/2 Compatible mouse.
    • Right-click on this entry to go to the properties of the touchpad, select 'Advanced Settings', and then click on 'Sample Rate'. You can reduce the degree of sensitivity here.
    • Follow this tip and you can solve the 'jumping cursor' problem easily.
