Question about Mitsubishi WD62628 62" Projection HDTV

3 Answers

No picture after changing lamp, tv will not power up.

In Oct. 2008 I replaced the lamp in my WD 62628. This morning I did not have a picture, but I had sound coming from my home theater ceiling speakers. My system, including my Dish PVR is controlled by by Logitech Harmony 880 controller. My TV and all components were purchased July 2006. I have a Monster (Signature series) HTS 5100 MK II Surge protector for all components.

I changed the lamp again. No difference, same issue. I looked at the lamp I removed, it looks fine.

I have also done a reset several times and have pushed the "on" button on the tv itself which does not turn on the tv either.

Any ideas what the issue may be? I've been following a CNET forum on problems w/Mitsubish tv's and see a lot of owners are also having problems w/their tv's also, but have not seen one similar to mine.

Thanks for any advice or info provided!

At times tv picture does not come on but sound does. After several resets and leaving tv off awhile it starts to work again. this is very annoying I just ordered a new blub but I don't believe this is the problem.

Try bringing up the menu. If you can't I'd suspect the fmt board if you can suspect the dm module.

There is a switch that triggers when you put the vented cover back on the back of the tv. If cover is not on the tv will not come on...may be bad switch.

Wd 62628 lamp indicator light is solid yellow / orange what needs to be done

Your lamp cover is not installed. That is what causes the LED to light amber. Remove and re-seat the lamp cover door. There is a switch it hits to tell the TV the door is shut. This is to protect you from electrocution.

It's most probable that you have a ballast issue, it might not have enough power to keep up with the new lamp. That's why you don't get any image.

No picture

If i am to understand this correctly, this is a rear projection television. Inside there may be 1 - 3 " color " control boards that control the picture before going on to the projector. an accumulation of dust / dirt / debris has adverse affects on electronic componants, make sure they are dust free (compressed air cleans them off quite well. If using a home compressor, make sure there is a vapor filter to remove water from the airlines.)

If they are clean, and as you said you recently had the television serviced to replace the projection lamp, take the television back to the repair shop to have them determine the problem.

If you yourself replaced the projection lamp, be sure to check all connections are properly seated if you had to disconnect something, make sure they are in the proper places, and any connections are securely connected.

If all else fails, have a local electronics / television repair person check the unit for faulty componants.

After I reset the system, the Audio menu gave me access to the TV speakers that had been turned off. I turned them on and had to wire audio cabes from my sat box to the component audio in on the TV.

Can't get the surround sound to play the rear speakers and small front speaker

Sounds like it's just in 2 channel stereo mode, only 2 speakers working out of 5 and a sub, look for a selector switch for switching to 5.1 surround, as far as the no video problem try replacing the cable for the video connection.
