Question about Proscan PSVR72 VHS VCR
My VHS unit played my video tapes great up until I cleaned it this morning with a new wet VHS cleaning cassette. It was probably last cleaned 3 or 4 years ago. Since being cleaned this AM, the drum squeals, the tapes play erratically and have a lot of "video noise". Frequently a tape starts to play, then stops, the drum continues to turn, and the VCR has become noisy on FF and REW. When scanning, the picture is good and without noise. Also, occasionally, it will not FF or rew, but the drum spins (rather noisily) and then the VCR shuts off. It does this with commercial pre recorded tapes also. I've 3 other VCR's which work well with commercially recorded tapes, but have noise, especially at the bottom of the picture (which won't track adjust out). This Proscan is the only one which plays my old tapes well. Just purchased a DVD recorder and am copying many of my VHS tapes to DVD. And I've a couple of hundred to convert to DVD. This Proscan is the only one which plays my old tapes well enough to burn to DVD. Help please.
The VHS cleaning cassette possibly deposited fiber in the heads in the drum. You may need to open the cabin and examine the heads and the mechanism for foreign matterial.
