Question about Sharp AR-164 Copier
Hi our copy machine at our small office is not working. If you can help me be the one who saves the day I would appreciate it! On startup it just displays the error: "H4" (flashes an 'h' and then a '4', over and over). I have looked around online to no avail. Tried reset codes, none appear to be the correct ones. What is needed to be done with this machine?
This error means:
heat roller abnormally low temperature.
clear key --> interrupt key --> "0" key --> interrupt key --> 14 --> start key

Clear the display of self-diagnostics with SIM 14.

SOURCE: HELP, H4 ERROR
The fuser isn't heating up on time. You could try turning the copier off for 30 seconds and turing it back on again to see if it goes away.
If it doesn't happen, there is a part that has to be fixed on the fuser to correct the problem. Usually it is the thermistor.

SOURCE: dispays h4 error
An H4 error code indicates trouble in the fusing section - a certain temperature has not been reached within a specified time. It could mean a dirty/bad thermistor or dirty/bad thermostat (both inside the fuser unit. Make sure both of these are clean and there is not debris/paper stuck inside the unit.
You can try resetting the code by : Get into SIM mode by pressing the following keys one after the other "#" "interupt" "C" "interupt" then enter 14 and the start key - confirm if requested then make sure the copier restarts.
Hope this helps.

To enter the test command mode, press the keys as
follows one after the other :
[#] key [*] key [C] key [*] key then enter 14 and press start/copy key. this clear error counter. make sure to restart copier afterwards.
