Take it to the dealer with your SN and receipt the dealer can get you a new dealer for about $100, but if you are not the original owner who registered the SN, it is a copyright violation and you are SOL

The dongle contains the "key" for the software. No Dongle.... no go. Sorry.

SOURCE: When I try to start my 4D embroidery software for

The author is incorrect regarding all of the uses of the HASP software/drivers. In the case of the sewing/design software being at issue with this person, she is dealing with a HASP hardware dongle which is the license control mechanism of a software product which absolutely *MUST* be installed on the personal computer or they cannot use the software. At all times, when the software is used, the hardware key and the HASP software must be running and the HASP license manager must be running as a service under services.msc

For quiltin_mama:
I have been struggling with this issue for my mother as well and have not come up with a final solution but I believe ours is one of damaged dongle or erroneous registry entries. I suggest the following actions:
1) lauch services.msc (click Start -> Run -> and type services.msc <enter> in the box) and look down the list for HASPLM?.EXE (I don't recall the full name). Verify that it is set to start automatically (right click on the item, choose properties, set "Startup Type" to automatic.

2. If you are using Windows Firewall, you need to add exceptions to the firewall: Control Panel -> Windows Firewall -> Click the "Exceptions" tab at the top.

You will need to add an exception for some of the 4D software applications. Now, I don't know which ones actually talk to the HASP, so what I suggest is: Click Add to create a new exception, and then click the "Browse" button to the lower right. Navigate to c:4d embroider\ (assuming you have the default directory) and then select the first 4D***.exe you find on the list, and click done. As I recall, there are 4 of these apps and you need to do this for each of them. Down the road, if any of the other parts of the software suite fail because they can't communicate, come back here and add the *.exe to the exception list.
Next, you need to exempt certain TCP/IP ports from the control of the Windows Firewall. If you download and install the firmware update from Husqvarna's site which they say is included in the 8.1 upgrade, the very last screen of the process, after doing all the main work, it will tell you to open a specific software port. I can't remember which port that is, but as I recall it was 14xx. Run this update and write down that port.
Back to the firewall exceptions list, now create two entries for this port: the first is for TCP port of that number and the second is the UDP port for that same number. Don't worry about why, but both appear to be needed. When adding the exception to the port, there is a button at the bottom left which says "scope". Click that and make sure that the top radio button of the 3 choices is the one selected.

Second, I made an interesting discovery while searching and trying to find the port number I mention above. There is another port which is listed as the "default" port for the Alladdin HASP software/dongle we are dealing with, and that is port 475. Please add exceptions (both TCP and UDP) for that port as well.

Finally, make certain that you have the latest HASP drivers from the ! HUSQVARNA ! site for Windows Vista and then apply the various 8.x updates to the 4D Embroidery software ! IN ORDER!, starting with 8.1, then 8.2a, then the 8.2b, then the 8.3, and the second 8.3(b?). (The 8.2 version has a 1 either before or after the '2', I don't recall which, the important thing to remember is that there is a 2a and 2b version and to do the 2a version first)

As you install these updates, BE VERY CAREFULL to read any warnings. I am told that some of the updates do not work with/will break under different versions of Windows. I haven't seen this myself as I haven't run them, but a dealer told my mom that one of the updates was her problem and that the update specifically said not to install it if you had Windows version (X). Unfortunately, not have the software myself, I cannot confirm or deny this.

There you go, I hope these steps help. One other piece of information: when (re)installing the 4D software and/or the updates, disconnect the computer from the internet and shut down any antivirus, antispyware, antimalware, and firewall software you might have running. After completing the installation, be certain to *REBOOT* the computer and logging in so the AV software is running before you again connect to the internet. I hate to say it, but all it takes is a matter of seconds before a worm can find its way into an unprotected computer to infect it. A couple of years ago one of the test organizations did that with a PC and it was fully under the control of malicious people on the internet in less than 2 minutes.

Best of Luck,
Mike

SOURCE: Husqvarna #1+ Dongle Not working with my computer.

You probably need to install the XP drivers for the dongle. I don't have the exact website at my fingertips (brain tips?) right now, but if you visit Jan Henning's Sew Much 4 Retirement website I think she has it amongst her Tips section. I had a similar problem years ago, but solved it by putting the installation CD into the computer, not running the automatic Install, then opening the program. It then goes looking for the dongle driver on the CD. This solution does not work for everyone, some need to download the drivers off the internet.

You need to download the updated Windows 7 drivers from Pfaff. Husqvarna doesn't support Windows 7, but these guys do.

The third heading down under "Useful Software" (under the photo) is

"HASP Dongle Drivers"

-Try downloading this driver. It should fix your issue.

Which artlink is compatible window7, aurora 430 and embroidery unit.Artlink6 is working but doesn't allow me to write to machine.Editor lite v4 doesn't pick up dongle.Nothing wrong with USBports

This sounds more like a driver issue than a software problem. The ArtLink 6 software CD that came with the Aurora 430 had drivers for XP and Windows Vista. However, these drivers may have only been for the 32-bit OS. Windows 7 is the first version of the OS to have had a large number of 64-bit installations.

The latest drivers for the Aurora 430 is available here: https://berninaofamerica.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/200183069-Aurora-Driver-Windows-Vista-7-and-8- . You will need to install two drivers; follow the directions on the site. Make sure that the USB cable is good and that you aren't using a USB hub.

If you have installed the drivers and the ArtLink 6 software still isn't working, ArtLink 7 is fully compatible with Windows 7 and the Aurora sewing machines. The only download site for this software that I've found is https://www.bernina.com/en-CA/Products-CA/BERNINA-products/Software-Designs/BERNINA-Embroidery-software/Advanced-Embroidery-Software/ArtLink-Seven . ArtLink 8 is also Windows 7 compatible. However, I haven't found any documentation on the supported sewing machines.

The driver issue also applies to the dongle. Try this site: https://www.bernina.com/he-IL/Support-IL/Software-he/Embroidery-Software/Dongle-Driver . However, since you have the Editor Lite v4, this dongle may not be supported under Windows 7. The dongle driver is not updated regularly. For some information about the software limitations, see https://www.bernina.com/he-IL/Support-IL/FAQ-he/Software-he/Can-I-update-my-BERNINA-embroidery-software-Editor .

I hope this helps.

(There is a patch for the v5 software to run properly under Windows 7. There isn't one for the Editor Lite v4 to the best of my knowledge.)

I have installed artista v3.0 software and dongle on a machine running Windows 98. When I open the software to run it says it cannot see the security device.

Dongle will not be recognized
NOTE - If you have encountered any of the following when installing your v5 BERNINA Embroidery Software:
After the computer reboot the screen will prompt for the new dongle but will NOT recognize it.
After the computer reboot the screen will prompt AND recognize the new dongle but never ask for or recognize the older dongle.
The software installation seems to complete but when attempting to open the program you will get the tool tips for a period of time then get taken back to your Desktop.
After rebooting the PC, you get an "error 7" message in the black DOS screen.
You may try one of the following (NOTE: Disconnect ALL USB devices from the computer EXCEPT for the version 5 dongle. If doing an update, attach the old dongle only when prompted):
1. If the version 5 software is installed, go to MY COMPUTER > Local Disk C: > Program Files > BERNINA > Embroidery Software > BIN folder and in the BIN folder will be a file called 'DATAGATHER' or 'DATAGATHER.EXE'. Locate this file and double-left click it to restart the 'verifying the security device' process and should finalize the brain transfer.
2. If step 1 was not successful, you will next need to try to run the REPAIR feature from the v5 install CD. To do this, reinsert the version 5 installation cd, and choose the REPAIR feature when you are asked to make a choice. Click NEXT and YES to finalize the REPAIR and restart the computer when prompted

Also doesn't look like it will run on Windows 98. It is SOOO Old! Version 5 won't anyway.

I have 3D Customizing and the newer reader/writer. The dongle works. The reader/writer is not found is what Customizing says. I have Windows 7 - any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

3D will not run properly on a Windows 7 computer. The USB reader/writer will work fine with 5D software.
Trust me, I have tried extensively to get 3D to run on Windows 7. I ran it on Vista, for a while. Then an update to Windows ended that. I've never had it function normally on Windows 7.

You will have to maintain an XP computer or buy new software there is no fix for your problem. It's the electronic age the old software was written for the XP operating system. When MS changed the operating system Husqvarna Viking had to design new software it's that simple.Don't blame the manufacturer Microsoft made the changes that created the problem. www.sewvac.com

My laptop which has windows 7 on it does not recognize mmy dongle

there is an update for windows 7 and dongles at the husqvarna viking website.

From Husqvarna Viking website -

When installing the 4D Embroidery System onto Windows 7 computers, the dongle drivers may not initially work correctly, as the 4D Embroidery System installs a set of dongle drivers which were created before Windows 7.
Download and install the latest dongle drivers prior to installing the 4D Embroidery System. Failure to do this, may result in the "Dongle driver not found (E0009)" when you try to open the 4D modules.
Please follow the steps below to install the latest dongle drivers BEFORE installing the 4D Embroidery System
  1. Download and install the latest Dongle Drivers.
  2. Insert your 4D Dongle.
  3. Install your 4D Embroidery System software (and all updates).
  4. Open your 4D Embroidery System software to confirm that your dongle is working correctly.
If you installed the 4D Embroidery System software before installing the latest dongle drivers and if you experience problems such as the error message "Unable to start hasplms service..."; download and install the latest Dongle Drivers.

link to latest Dongle Drivers - http://vsmsoftware.net/downloads/HASP/HASPUsersetup.exe

Husqvarna Viking - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com

If you are still unable to get it to work, visit your local authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer. Most stores have staff who are eager to help but you might want to call for an appointment

Good luck..
