Question about Kenmore Elite 22.4 cu. ft. Bottom Freezer Refrigerator with Adjusta Cube Ice Maker
Light that will shine onto your cup by ice maker is blinking, stops blinking when you open the door. Tried to get ice, the flapper to let ice out of the door and into your cup won't open. Everything else does as far as the ice maker goes, as the ice builds up on top of the flapper door. Completely emptied ice maker now and have switched off power, turned power back on and it still blinks. Selected water instead of ice and the light blinks faster. Don't have any error lights showing up on display and it works just fine.

Most common problem is a broken ice maker module. Should also replace ice maker thermostat when changing the module. Make sure fill tube isn't frozen first. If you take the ice maker out pull off the plastic cover and in the center of the wheel that kind of looks like a gear there are two little plastic studs. If one is broke or they are pressed together then the module is bad. Make sure to replace the thermostat along with some silicone grease because a bad thermostat is what causes the module to break.

When you push the ice dispensing lever, you should be able to hear the micro-switch clicking. If no click, the switch is faulty. The auger motor which is activated by the lever could also be faulty. This is the motor that causes the auger in the ice bucket to rotate one way for crushed ice and the other way for cubes. The auger could also be jammed. Try switching between crushed and cubes to unjam the auger. Empty the ice bucket and start again.

The red light on the right side of the freezer at the on off slide mechanism is normal and ok. I indicates the ice maker is not in a cycle at the time. It is not meant to tell the customer the unit is ok or it is not ok. Ignore the light.

Most likely a problem with the main ice making unit itself. I bought mine at ebay for $49 including shipping. Very simple to replace. You just swap the wiring harness and bottom plate. Takes about 20 minutes to do.
Make sure you do the IR led test. If you think you IR sender and receiver are bad to, $57 on ebay for the set. Most likely not your water solenoid in the lower back of frig (it gets the signal to turn on from the receiver module of the IR board.
Probably not your water filter (cuz the front water dispenser still probably works right?)
And probably not a clogged or frozen line.
Good luck. When it doubt, trust ebay!
