Question about Moeller InLine Fuel Filters Replacement InLine Filter Glass (Mller)

1 Answer

What are the dangers of using a brass fitting to splice a fuel(gasoline) line?

Don't want to drop gas tank to replace fuel line. Attempting to splice the fuel line(plastic, hard rubber/neoprene...) with a brass barb fitting. Wondering about chemical interaction between gasoline and brass, and also, is there any possibility of static electricity build up.

You should be good. You might talk to you local marina about a quick disconnect. They have a stop valve built into them so you don't come back to a boat full of gas.

The fuel lines in my Ozito 25.4 cc 305mm bar chainsaw are perished, how do I replace them?

Chainsaw fuel lines are specialized hoses that either need to be replaced with TEFLON hoses of the same diameter, or the specialized rubber hoses that are resistant to gasoline and other chemicals. You should ask at a hardware store and make sure you get a hose that fits TIGHTLY into any holes on the gas tank, and also snugly fits over ant incoming metal or brass lines going into the carburetor.

1995 GMC JIMMY WONT START UNLESS I PRIME IT THEN IT JUST DIES ITS FUEL INJECTED

It sounds like you have a defective fuel pump. The pump is locate inside the fuel tank, the fuel tank must be removed to replace the pump. Please follow this procedure to remove the fuel tank.
Disconnect neg battery cable, safely raise vehicle, place floor jack under tank, loosen gas tank straps and allow tank to slowly drop halfway, disconnect( this is the hard part) fuel lines, and power connections at tank. Drop tank. With a brass hammer/punch carefully remove retaining ring/seal.Reverse to install.A new pump module will cost you $300-$400 at the dealer. Don't use a cheap pump replace the entire assembly because this is a float/sender/pump/ in one. Replace your fuel filter too or the fuel pump warranty is voided..

Can i replace the fuel sending unit &thefuel pump through the trunk on my 2001buick lesabre are they a combined unit

Hello grandpa_art_,

Yes, this id done by removing the rear compartment floor trim.

Then remover the bolts to the access cover and remove the cover. See image below.

netvan_201.png

There quick connect fuel line fittings( Red) that will need to be disconnected and electrical connectors(Blue). See image below.

netvan_202.png

Be aware the fuel module is spring loaded so when you remove the retaining the unit will spring up.

Then remove the retaining ring and the module.

Use extreme caution as you will be opening the gas tank and will have gas fumes and gasoline. Fire danger is very real.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Jerry

1994 softail springer with harley carburator. fuel fitting on carb that was there had a plastic clip and small line going to hose. This hose broke and I was given a different fitting. This fitting presses...

The original fuel line fitting on the Keihen carb is a pressed in fitting made of brass and plastic. The plastic piece breaks off leaving the brass nipple in the carb. Harley makes a replacement fitting as well as the aftermarket parts suppliers. The Harley replacement is better because it's made completely of brass where the aftermarket replacements are made of brass and plastic like the original. To get the old fitting out, thread it with 1/4 X 20 tap and use a bolt, washer, and a deep well socket as a "puller" to get the old fitting out. To press the new fitting in, lubricate the fitting and the hole in the carb and use a vise to press the fitting in. Be sure to position the fitting correctly so that the fuel hose goes on in the right direction. I'm sorry but I don't have the part number handy. Your local dealer can look up the number easily.

Good Luck

I am replacing the fuel lines on a Poulan 446 Pro Pole Saw. The two hoses inside the tank are completely dissolved away, so I don't know how much length to put in the tank. There is a 3/32 x 3/16...

Bill, the small hose connects to the fuel filter inside the tank feed the
hose thru the tank and pull out thru the filler hole and insert the fuel
filter, pull hose back to outside until you have 4" of hose in the tank
with the filter. this same hose connects to the bottom (shorter brass
stem to carburetor). the larger diameter hose will fit 1/4 " into the tank, and fit to the top (longer brass stem)

Where can I find schematics for the fuel tank of a 96 honda passport

Removing a Fuel Tank for Servicing The procedure for removing a fuel tank varies depending on the vehicle make and year. Always follow the procedure in the vehicle manufacturer's service manual.
WARNING Wear safety glasses and do not use a drop light. Liquid falling on the hot glass can cause the bulb to explode. If it is accidentally dropped or has a bad switch or loose connections, it can cause a fire.
  • Before removing the tank, remove the battery ground cable to avoid an accidental spark.
  • Relieve the fuel system pressure, and drain the fuel tank.
    • Gasoline weighs about 7 pounds per gallon. A full tank could easily weigh in excess of 100 pounds. Attempting to remove it while it is full could result in a dangerous gasoline spill or an injury. Remember, gasoline vapor is extremely flammable.
  • Raise the vehicle on a hoist, or lift the vehicle with a floor jack and then lower the chassis onto jack stands.
  • Use compressed air to blow dirt from the fuel line fittings and wiring connectors.
  • Remove the fuel tank wiring harness connector from the body harness connector.
  • Remove the ground wire retaining screw from the chassis if there is one.
  • Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel tank. If these lines have quick-disconnect fittings, follow the manufacturer's recommended removal procedure in the service manual. Some quick-disconnect fittings are hand releasable, and others require the use of a special tool.
  • Wipe the filler pipe and vent pipe hose connections with a shop towel, and then disconnect the hoses from the filler pipe and vent pipe to the fuel tank.
  • Unfasten the filler from the tank. If it is a rigid one-piece tube, remove the screws around the outside of the filler neck near the filler cap. If it is a three-piece unit, remove the neoprene hoses after the clamp has been loosened.

WARNING Do not heat the bolts on the fuel tank straps in order to loosen them. The heat could ignite the fumes.

  • Loosen the bolts holding the fuel tank straps to the vehicle until they are about two threads from the end.
WARNING Gas tanks should be filled with an inert gas, such as CO2, before any welding takes place. Even if a tank has been thoroughly flushed of gasoline, the tank may still contain flammable vapors. Attempting to weld such a tank may result in an explosion.
