GE GSL25JFXLB (250 cu ft) Side by Side Refrigerator

On setting 1(warmest) freezer is 14 degrees. thermistors are 32 ohm(defrost) and 30 ohm (bottom of freezer) and the defrost circuit resistance is 22 ohms(proper range)...there are no burning or burnt resistors on the main board. takes 2 days to defrost anything out of the freezer. thermistor for refrig side is in proper range as well

Your thermistors are way out of range even at that temperature you say,put each thermistor in a glass of ice water for 5 minutes, then remove the J1 connector from the main board and check with an ohm meter set on 20k ohm between the thermistors common terminal #5 and the other pin terminals all thermistors tested this way should be about 16k ohms when tested this way,if not replace them

It needs to be confirmed that your auto defrost timer is the main culprit. You will need to confirmt he wiring of the timer once again, the lines to the heater and to the cut off relay of the compressor starter. First of all the timer can be tested out , make sure that you mark the connections with the wires colours and see if the timer works fine. If so when the complettion of the 8 hours cycle( normally) the realy will trip for the auto defrost. So try to observe the working of the timer so that you know that it works. If so your defrost fault will be cured. Hope my advice helps . Good day

Sarct, the question is, was the freezer side ok, if it was, I would suspect the damper not opening. If the freezer side was warm too, then I would suspect the evaporator thermistor not sending the signal to the board to terminate the defrost. Have the tech first check the continuity at connector J3. He should have 400ohms at J3-1 to J3-2 and the same at J3-3 to j3-4. If he doesn't get those readings have him check at the damper motor itself. If he doesn't have it there, replace the damper motor. If the damper motor passes all the checks then it's on to the evaporator thermistor. Have him check the resistance. At 5 degrees it should ohm at approx 36K ohms. The evap thermostat is redundant to the defrost operation. It's there as a back up in the event the evap thermistor fails to terminate the defrost. It's normally closed and will open at 140 degrees.

Refrigerator not cooling

Many reasons for this, most of which you could not fix yourself.
Is the fan running in the food section? Is the freezer section cold enough or is the problem just the food section?

The defrost cycle timer on gsl25jfxlb stays on, what can cause this and how can this be fixed?

If it's in defrost all the time the timer is stuck and needs replacing. If it's electronically controlled, suspect the probe (thermistor) that sits on the evaporator

GE ZIS420NX Refrigerator temp control not effective, food is freezing

you have a few things that could be wrong, a bad thermistor, a bad air defuser, or a bad main board. changing the thermistor could fix it but if not, i would call a pro that order the right part. lots of varibles.

The refrigerator stays at 47 degrees but the bottom compartments freeze

You have a defrost problem. A blockage of frost in the freezer prevents air flow over the cooling coils there, allowing very cold air to migrate back into the bottom of the refrigerator section. Unload the freezer and remove the back wall, melt the frost off the coils with a hair blower, and check to see if the defrost heater at the bottom of the coils is burnt out. If heater is OK, replace the 1.5 inch long white thermistor located at the very top of the cooling coils.

GE 24 Profile refrigerator: The freezer part

my refrigerator goes into auto defrost every 60hrs for 45 minutes or till the bi metal(defrost thermostat) says it had enough....recently i had ice built up on the coil because my defrost thermostat was stuck open...

ice builds up because the moisture that comes from opening the door or food condenses on the cold coil...tempurature of the coil is below 32 degrees which will ice up the condensed moisture...

defrost is timed to remove this build up
