Thank you StockViper and - YES- we have intentionally set the IP addresses .. 186.1.1 is our DSL Moden , the other ..168.7.1 is the Linksys Router.

And for Mister DJ-- we are trying thry new drivers which took days to locate. Broadcom's site is not working or something , and I found them by researching. So we will try that.

Your ip settings are not correct: linksys generaly uses the following:
IP: 192.168.1.1xx using 101-255
SUB 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS 192.1681.1
using these settings should correct your connection.

given that you havent manually changed your routers default ip settings

    miss typed DNS 192.168.1.1

  • Dennis H Feb 20, 2009

The DNS Needs to be the same as the default gateway...

    192.168.7.10x IP

    255.255.255.0 SUB NET

    192.168.7.1 GATEWAY

    192.168.7.1 DNS

These would be the LAN Settings , Router and Adapter need to have the same settings

I have a Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter and a Cisco/Linksys WRT54GS Router. The signal is extremely poor even though the router is only 10 feet away. It does not appear to be an interference issue.

Hi,
You can update the Linksys Firmware to a newer version if is available, please check the Linksys support site
http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WRT54GS
Another chance is to change the Wireless Channel maybe 11, to avoid any intereference with wireless phones.

I no longer have the driver software disc. How can I use the Wireless USB Adapter without it?

You can try this one:

You can use another computer to download the driver, put it on a USB thumbdrive or an external hard drive, then transfer it to your laptop for the installation.

You can connect your computer directly to a modem or router for internet access. Download the drivers from the Linksys website.

Click here for the download page. Don't forget to select the correct version.

Hope this helps! :D

Cannot setup WPA2 on WUSB54G & WPC11 adaptors

This is because those wireless adapters that you mentioned do not support for WPA2. Linksys will not release drivers for those adapters that will make it work with WPA2 because they are already discontinued. So the only other option is to stick with WPA or WEP

No association with access point

Another thing to check, (especially if you have installed SP2 in the midst of this process of trying to get the Linksys WPC54G drivers  installed).
In Device Manager, check under the "network adapters" category and see if there's any "other" things with a yellow question mark - I clicked one of those, had it search for the new driver, and after a few minutes it eventually installed a WPC54G driver and placed it in the "Network Adapters" category (I had already run the drivers install from Linksys, Broadcom, many times over - de-installing each time to try another version).
Funny thing about it, when I hit "update" or whatever on that yellow question mark icon - it had given me no clue whatsoever that it was a wireless adapter driver that it was updating.
Hope this helps.

Intel Pro Wireless 2200BG problem or Linksys BEFW11S4 problem?

I had the same problem. If you are using the latest driver for your intel 2200BG (9.0.4.7). Try to roll back to a previous version. It solved my problems with being unable to connect to a Linksys BEFW11 router running WEP64.

I am now running driver version 9.0.1.9
