Question about Kenmore Sewing Machines
I have a Kenmore Sewing Machine (Model #385.16221301 -- Serial #74152057). I was sewing along and then the Feeder Dogs stopped feeding the material through. The Feeder Dogs go up & down, but do not move forward or backwards. How can I fix this?
Are the Feed Dogs dropped? Check your manual for the location of the switch. .... otherwise your mechanism has been compromised. Take it in for repair.

check the feeddogs & see if there in the up position, if there not move the lever or knob to the up position
if the lever is up then there is something wrong with the feeddogs & it needs to be serviced

Sounds like the machine's age is causing the lubrication to get sticky.
Try changing the pattern by moving the pattern selector around.
Take out the bobbin and remove the thread and presser foot, raise the presser lever, set the pattern to zig zag, set the stitch length to maximum and run the machine at full speed. While it's running, repeatedly press the reverse lever all the way down. Run it for at least a few minutes.
