I rec'd. my Nexus 7 for Christmas this year (2013). Sometimes it would just shut down. Now, even though it's charged, it will not come on at all. I've tried holding the on/off button, and I've tried just touching it and letting go. What's your advice?

The Nexus 7 does not come with a built in camera app. I guess Google figures since there is only a front-facing camera that folks won't be taking too many photos.
I recently came across an app on Google play that will allow you to launch the camera to easily take photos. You can find the Camera Launcher App for Nexus 7 on Google Play.

SOURCE: My nexus 7 is not turning on anymore. It's been charging for days. Any ideas?

Is it charging from a computers USB port? If so, try plugging it in directly to the wall. The port may not be pushing enough power. The device may be so drained that it need power straight from the wall.

How to locate or change forgotten password using Google's Android Device...

This may be well known but it was a complete surprise to me. Using Google's device manager, you can actually locate your Nexus to within 20 - 30 metres.
Ring it in the event of misplacing it. Erase ALL data and lock it, and should you have forgotten your password! Don't sweat you can change it to gain operation once again. I myself think Googles security is fantastic and is needed these days.

OK to start with go into settings on your Nexus, tap on Device Administrators. You should now see Android Device Administrators and make sure the box is ticked. Leave this box ticked always for possible future mishaps.

I imagine you already have a Google Account, if not you will have to sign up and do all that is required to obtain one. Using your laptop or PC do the following.
Sign into your Google account and proceed to your account settings. Now look for Recent Activity > Devices
and click on Devices. This then opens up a page showing you your Devices and all activity that you can check on.
Locate your Nexus in the list and click on it, you will see Find your Android devices with Android Device Manager and click on that.
For security Google may ask you to sign in again, after doing that the world opens and you will see a box with your Nexus. The top two icons are for renaming your device or locating, below that Ring, Lock and Erase. Play wisely lol.

This is for those of you that didn't know about this, like myself only an hour ago.

How can I download photos on my computer

Here are instructions on how to transfer files between your Nexus 7 and PC using the USB cable: Transfer files between your computer and Android device

If you don't wish to use the USB cable, you can always transfer files wirelessly between your Nexus and PC via the cloud. Since you already have a gmail account, use your Google Drive account to store files and access them by both your PC and Nexus 7. If you haven't set up your Google Drive account, here's how:

The gmail format has changed on my Nexus 7 and I don't know why. What happened?

The reason for the "Gmail Facelift" is that as of June 5, 2013 Google deployed a Gmail update, this update included a bunch of updates including colored emails. You may remove Gmail and install the old version from here: Gmail 4.3.1 or when you click on the email to read the email, select the Menu and choose DELETE to delete the email.

Nexus 7 tablet mic doesn't work in portrait mode

The microphone for the nexus 7 is a small hole on the right hand side of the tablet, just below the volume button. Make sure your hand and any cases you're using aren't covering this when you're trying to do a voice search.

How do I save photos in the asus nexus 7

Depending on what your question means I may be able to help. You are unlikely to be able to plug you camera in directly to your Nexus but with a USB card reader, a 'USB on the go' cable (available from Amazon) and Nexus Media Importer app you can view and copy stuff from your camera memory card. This works a treat. A standard USB cable won't work. Alternatively you can plug your nexus USB cable into your PC and manage your Nexus folders.
