Ensure the surface is clean AND wax free.

After you tape the surfaces not to be painted I would wet sand with very fine sand paper then clean well and that should avoid any peeling.

Paint flaked off. How to repaint?

Scrape off any loose paint. Sand it down, removing any rust. Use an enamel spray paint primer first. Then finish with a good quality exterior spray paint like rustoleum. Put on a few thin layers of paint allowing it to dry between coats.

How do I fix gloss paint that dried with multiple matte areas after second coat was applied? 1st coat went on fine and dried glossy.

the matte areas could be blushing from the paint
although the temp was 68 degrees it is the humidity in the air that causes the problem
when covering gloss with a second coat , it may be advisable to rough up the gloss coat first

Will plasti dip paint work on chrome rims?

It will go on and adhere as it is drying but once it's fully cured it won't take much pressure to make it start peeling off a chrome surface. Chrome is very hard and very, very smooth. Because of these properties, the Plasti Dip will coat it and dry properly but will have a very hard time ashearing to the chrome after it dries completely.

1995 paint on cherokee peeling

The peeling paint is a factory defect caused by the paint process they used in this year and others starting in the early 1990's. The cars and trucks with the defect where repainted free of charge on a case by case process, mine did this and being an employee of a dealer got it painted free of charge ($5,500 bill). Your truck is now to old and they will not repaint it.

It sounds to me like you have some bad paint as everything else you are doing sounds good. I would strip it back down, let it dry and try another brand. Good luck. Thank you

water base paints are out there but as far i know i think you should error on the safe side and use a resporator with most all paints........ as far as i know they havent fully improved waterbase paints to the point that they hold up on metal correct me if i am wrong when the car companys use them for all cars then i will! ( base coat clear coat is the best so long as you follow the mixtures as directed on the cans ( call some paint suppliers , savage dupont ect they can guide you on most types of paints)

Same problem with grill bubbling what to do 2004 niss murano

I've decided to "black" mine out with a high gloss black. First I'm going to take the grill off & see if I can use airplane paint remover on a small area to remove the coating that is bubbling.

If so, then i'll primer the surface & repaint it as is since it should be smooth after the remover works and I scrape it down and wash it clean.

You could then leave it once the clearcoat is removed, re-coat it with clearcoat, or paint it any color, even to match. Automotive spray paint is available at auto-parts stores for this type of material, just get the right can of spray paint.

If I find the paint remover won't work without hurting the actual grill, I'll use some fine grit sandpaper and prep the surface, then primer it and paint it high gloss black. Color choice is optional of course!

Maybe this will help.
