Question about Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Tablet PC (TopSeller) - Intel Core 2 Duo SL9600 2.13GHz - 12.1 WXGA - 2GB DDR3 ... (744945U) PC Notebook

1 Answer

Owner doesn't know the passwords. At power on, it has two icons, 1 is on top of a can like icon, and the other is a padlock. Because I don't know the password, I hit the F1 after I power on and the thinkpad log appears. I saw two errors 271 and 182 bad CRC2. Is there hope of restoring this thinkpad to working condition or should I dump it?

Turn off laptop, remove battery. Remove palmrest, and remove keyboard (leave keyboard plugged in). Remove CMOS battery, and boot up the laptop without CMOS battery. Your Power-on password is now removed, put it all back together and enjoy!7 Feb 2012

SOURCE: cannot get my laptop to the screen to enter password

Try to restart your laptop, when you see the IBM Thinkpad logo press F8 several times until it gives you a black screen menu with some option. Try the "use last known good configuration" first and see if it works, otherwise try to access in safe mode. Once you're in, try a system restore, and bring the computer back to a date you think it should work.
To access System restore you go unser start - programs - accessories - system tools.
Good luck

SOURCE: cannot get my laptop to the screen to enter password

try booting into safe mode first F8, see what that gives you. if that fails load your original boot disk if you have vista os. load that disk and select repair to see if you have any issues. once your inside. i recommend using a command to repair any files that may be corrupt or changed. so once you get in go to start, select run and type cmd.exe once the black screen comes up type in sfc /scannow you will need to have the original os disk inside the drive. this command will go through and search any system files that have been changed. let me know if that helps or you need any other assistance

good luck!

SOURCE: lenovo thinkpad R51e ,when i power on the laptop it show error271

This error message is generated when the BIOS Date and Time is incorrect. Go into the BIOS configuration to change the Date and Time. When you reboot and still get the same error message then the BIOS battery is flat and needs to be replaced and the Date and Time setting needs to be change to the current Date and Time after replacing the battery.
If you cannot get into the BIOS configuration (press F1 on bootup) or you get a lock icon in the top LH corner of the screen, this is a Power on Password symbol, enter the passsword to bootup the laptop and then press F1 to get into the BIOS configuration.

How do I unlock my ipad 4?

The term "unlocking" when it comes to iPad means either having a password to access the device, or a process to access and change the underlying operating system. The padlock icon doesn't have anything to do with WiFi. Also, if you cannot connect to WiFi, you cannot get to Facebook, Google, or anywhere else on the Internet, in the same way that if you car wont' start, you can't go to work or your buddy's house. Your root problem isn't that your car won't go to your friend's house, it's that it won't start. SO, please re-ask the question with specifics of your root problem, which is you can't connect to WiFi. Do you know the password for your WiFi router? Can you see it listed in the wireless networks? Do you not know how to connect to WiFi in the first place?

Padlock icon?

The padlock icon is used to indicate on the browser that the SSL protocol is in use.

It requires the web site to set it up, not you.

I have strong wifi strength but no connection

It sounds like you're in range of a wifi signal, but haven't chosen which network you want your tablet to jump onto. Head over to your settings panel (swipe down from the top, then tap the little cog icon). From settings, make sure you're in the "Wireless and network" tab. Make sure your wifi is turned on (with the green bar below it). To the right, there should be a list of wifi networks you can join. If there's one that has a little padlock icon on it, it means it requires a password (are you at a restaurant or friend's house? - ask them for the wifi password). If it doesn't have the padlock, it's an open network. Does this help?

Best of luck.

hi,

Thinkpad has a very powerful protection, and entering or trying to enter or access it multiple times will cause it to lock completely, and you will need to change the system board - in other words : you need a new heart or brain for it

because the code you post is for the EEPROM checksum is not correct

so, dumping it might be a solution if you don't have anything important to back up, and even if you did, Very hard to retrieve

hope this helps

thanks

DD24DCB6 top drow not working no power

Hi,
When you say no power, does this mean no function and no lights also? Is there an Icon in the window of that drawer, top right (like a padlock icon)? If so your unit is locked, push and hold the lock button for 3-5 seconds to release.
If not get back to me so we can sort this out.
Thanks

What do; the four little lights below my keyboard mean? One is the battery, one is the internet, but the other two? Especially the third from the lert with the icon that looks like a stack of pancakes?

The icon that looks like a stack of pancakes is the one for the hard disk drive and the indicator with the icon flickers or lights whenever there is hard disk activity. The reading / writing of large files will cause the hard disk drive activity indicator to light almost steadily until the file reads / writes have completed. There are two icons that look like little padlocks. One has the character 1 and the other has letter A. The padlock icon with the 1 in the middle is the indicator for NumLk or Numeric Keypad lock. Pressing the Fn key and the key with NumLk on it turns the Numeric Keypad on and off. When it is on, pressing the keys for UIOJKL will enter 456123 facilitating entry of numbers with the keys arranged as a keypad along with the top row of keys 789. Finally, the padlock icon with the A in the middle is the Caps Lock indicator which lights when the Caps Lock key is pressed allowing subsequent presses of letter keys to be capitals without having to press the shift key. Pressing Caps Lock a second time turns off the Caps Lock. Similarly, a second press of Fn and NumLk turns off the NumLk.

Wi fi passwords

Sad to say, there are no default passwords for wifi except for 12345 or 00000. It is because wifi passwords are unique to the owner of the wireless router. It is up to the discretion of the owner to put a password as he sees fit. Your best bet is to look for an open wifi connection, the one without the padlock icon and hopefully you will be able to connect to it. Good luck!
