Ice Maker problem 106-626636, too much water!?

I have had this Roper (whirlpool) fridge for about 7 years with this icemaker installed. Lately a large accumulation of ice has been forming in the back of the ice tray. Then I noticed there was ice forming behind the back panel of the freezer and pushing it out. I took it all apart today and cleaned all the ice from around the coil in the back and inspected the fill tube for damage that would cause a drip. I found nothing but ice.... anyone ever had this problem before? What was the solution? Thanks in advance!

drain is clear....ice was just in the top left corner, right behind where the icemaker is, and down from that, decreasing in quantity as it got closer to the bottom of the freezer. The majority of the (non cube) ice ends up in the back of the ice catching bin. I am convinced there is some kind of leak at or near the fill tube... maybe the pump for the water is leaking through it or something... maybe there is an adjustment on the ice maker itself....hoping someone has had this problem before and figured it out.

I have the same problem. My fill line is just a "chute" that dumps the water into a catch basin of sorts. The basin drains into the mold to fill it up. There is a lot of "slop" in the catch basin. i.e. the basin is not held fast to the ice maker but moves around a lot when the bar that turns it off is moved up & down. I don't know if it's worn out, a piece is missing, or the "chute" gets stopped up sometimes & the water flies when it hits the blockage.

Yes, very good point either 1 the water valve is getting stuck open, 2. the ice maker is going bad, or 3. you have a leak. I recommend that you pull out the refrigerator. get like a wire you can plug in the wall and put 110 to the water valve. like (jumper cables kinda.) now either have someone look for leaks while you are doing this, if no leaks then it narrows it down to if the water valve is sticking or the ice maker is sending the voltage down to long. let me know if i can be more of assistance but this sounds very simple and easy to fix.

Sears Had a couple of problems with this. They have a plastic tube they put on you ice make line that goes to the fill tray about 3 in long . You can make you own its just pvc pipe. The other thing is that the drain hole get froze over time and has you looking all over for a leak. The fix for this is a small strip of aluminum about 1/4 wide and 3 and a 1/2 long (pop can) rap it around the defrost coil 1 time and put about 2 in. down the drain hole. Now it can never freeze shut again. If you wan to buy the part its called a heat probe ( peace of tin) its about $20.00

I have a whirlpool WRF736SDAM11 french door fridge. I've changed the icemaker per a repairman, but I still have no ice.

if water is dispening and you replaced the ice maker, the most probable cause is a bad water valve. The valve has two outlets, one for the water and one for the ice maker; it appears that you ice side is not working as it is not likely to be from the Ice Maker

good luck

Ice makers are some of the most worked part of a refrigerator and have about a five year lifespan. There are just too many things that can go wrong that can stop the ice making process. To explain the process of a Whirlpool ice maker I am going to post a Whirlpool Ice Maker Troubling pdf and a short YouTube Icemaker Repair toutorial. Whirlpool IceMagic Plus not working.

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it dumps the ice but doesn't refill , replace the ice maker . If it doesn't dump , and the cubes stay in the ice maker , replace the ice maker .

The switch on the icemaker for normal , runs the icemaker normaly . In the ice plus , a small fan comes on , blowing the inside air , over the ice maker mold , to help it freeze faster .

ICE MAKER QUIT MAKING ICE ON MY WHIRLPOOL FRIDGE

I had a Whirlpool Model GD5SHAXNS in which the icemaker quit working about the same time (3 years old). I had water out the dispenser, I found that it was the icemaker itself failed not calling for water to fill it. I replaced it with a icemaker on-line for about $100 and problem fixed. I have been told his is a common problem with the icemaker in this model ref.

My whirlpool aide by side fridge icemaker is making buzzing or humming noise

Hello
Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,

You said, your ice maker is making a buzzing or humming noise ice maker isn't making much ice. . fridge is about 2 1/2 years old.

This sounds like a clogged water line or a electrical short !
I would get service rather than take a chance on electrical fire.
Or burn up the circuit in the ice maker.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to advise you.

Automatic icemaker

Have you made sure your water supply was good and a good steady flow of water is flowing in to the back orf the fridge?/ If you have then theres a small micro switch that opens a water valve at the proper moment of the cycle of the ice maker. This switch is inside the icemaker up against a small cam being driven by a small motor. The switch activates a small valve that lets the water flow into the ice maker.if the water flow is good its the switch or the valve. Good luck
