SOURCE: I have Hotpoint model CTX18BABKRWW

Hello,

That water is from the melting frost of the automatic defrost cycle. Their is drain in the freezer behind the back wall under the evaperator coil that is blocked, so instead of defrost water draining it's pooling in the freezer or in some case espically on models with the freezer on the top,the water is leaking from the freezer vents into the fresh food compartment.
The way to clear the drain is remove back plate and remove all ice build up and GENTLY make a small hole in drain through then totally flush w/warm water.
The exact location of drain is under the coil behind back freezer plate in the center.

This picture may be a slightly different moldel that years but it shows where that drain is

I hear a lot of complaints from people that see water leaking into their refrigerator from seemingly nowhere. Water appears in different places and even inside or under a refrigerators that does not have a water or a ice dispenser! Frost free refrigerators defrost the ice that collects on the evaporator coil on the average of about every 8 hours so the water that accumulates during defrost has to go somewhere right?

There is water collecting continuously at the bottom of my fridge under the crispers. Do you know how I can fix?

Most frost free refrigerators take water from the freezer so you do not have to defrost the freezer. That being said there should be a drain under the crisper. Check to see if it is clogged.
you may need to put something under the refrigerator to collect the water..

Servis fridge freezer freezer fine fridge collecting water under salad drawers and at front, stopper at back is out to try to alleviate the problem. Any suggestions

That sounds like the defrost drain is frozen over. when this happens the defrost water will spill over through the air vents to the ref section. You'll need to remove the evaporator cover in the freezer compartment and defrost the drain. this should get you fixed up. If you can post a comment with the model # and brand of the frig, I'll be able to go into more detailed instructions.

WE have an older fridge. Water is now collecting

Good day,
On some of the older models when the refrigerator went thru it's automatic defrost cycle, the condensate water ran down the back wall, under the crispers and out that drain plug you described.
You can verify if that is your model by looking at the back wall of the machine. If there is no drain tube running down the back, then that is the model you have.
If that is the case, just remove the plug. The water should run directly into the drain pan.
Clean the plug and opening and that's it.

Water pools under the crisper drawers and looks as if it is draining from the upper freezer down the side of the refrig door, looks like the little hole under the crisper is clogged with rust?? It is a old...

Mine clogs with a soft fungus mat but rust actually sounds better. I run a stiff wire like an unwound hanger into the hole and open it up so the water will drain onto the tray made to collect this water underneath the fridge. Last time I left the wire in place with a long handle and I haven't had water to mess with for many months now. My hole is between the two crisper drawers and when I get into either of them the wire gets a jiggle and I guess that's all it takes to keep the hole clear so the water can drain like it's supposed to.

Otherwise the fungus builds and builds until it sluffs off as a wad and plugs up the works on a regular basis. Too funky for sure.

Hotpoint RFA 60 Refrigerator drain problem

Well the only way to check it out completely is like you said going from inside your freezer and I like to pour water down the line to make sure it drains.

Take the back panel off inside your freezer and locate the opening of the drain. You will see the collection tray just under your coils and in the middle you will see the opening. Now if it is blocked by ice just take a couple tea spoons of table salt and pour on the opening. Ice will melt very fast and then the opening will clear and then take some water and pour down it.

If the opening is clear just pour water down and observe the drain pan under the unit and see if it comes in there.

Water under crispers in my fridge

If the freezer is on top then empty out the freezer and remove the bottom and back liner of the freezer compartment usually phillips screws. In the back you will see the freezer coils along with a defrost element. Below these two items u will see a drip tray that collects water from the coils on defrost cycle, in the center of the pan will be a drain hole that connects to a hose that leads to a pan under the refrigerator.Normally the water is collected there and evaporated. The hole in the tray in the freezer is clogged. Thaw it and clean it until you can pour water in it and it goes to the pan down below. please rate me
