I have held the - sign and done this several time and the Roger beep is still sounding what next?

The T6500 is slightly different than many of the other TalkAbout radios where the + (plus) button turns the Roger Beep (aka talk confirmation tone) on or off.

T6500 will turn ON the Roger Beep when turning the radio on with the +, but to shut it OFF you must hold in the - (minus) button while turning the radio on.

Here is a link to the user guide: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/T65xx.pdf You will find the instructions in detail on page 25.

Best regards.

How to shut off beep

I'm not seeing where the T4500 has a roger beep. In the event you have a different TalkAbout radio, the Roger Beep is typically turned on or off by holding the PLUS button in while turning on the radio. I would like to turn off the roger beep on my BellSouth model 229

You need to open the radio and look for the roger beep board. It should be a white wire going to one of the pins on the mic jack. If you interupt that wire the tone will not play. You can either disconnect it, or put a switch on it so you can turn it on and off.

How do you go to silent mode?

There are two different kinds of beeps you can control, the "roger" beep and the "button" beeps. Below is an excerpt from the owners manual explaining the simple procedure.

“Roger” Beeps/Talk Confirmation Tone
When you turn this feature On, your two-way radio transmits a unique tone when
you finish transmitting. It’s like saying “Roger” or “Over” and lets others know
you have finished talking. If the person you are talking to does not hear the talk
confirmation tone, you can enable it by pressing and holding + (plus) as you turn On
your radio. Now, whenever you release the PTT, you let your friends know you have
finished talking by transmitting a “Roger” Beep tone. “Roger” Beeps will be
disabled as the Default Setting.
Note: To toggle the Talk Confirmation Tone feature, turn your radio Off and then
back On while pressing and holding + (plus) .

Button Beeps
Every time you press a button on the front of your radio, it beeps unless you turn
Button Beeps Off. To turn Button Beeps Off, turn your radio On while you press - (minus) and
hold . To turn Button Beeps back On, turn the radio Off and then back On again
while you press and hold the - (minus) . On is the Default setting.

Roger Beep

Hi Helen,

On most Motorola radios, to remove the roger beep, while powered on, you need to press the menu button until the Roger Beep indicator in the display starts to flash. Press on the + or - to change status. Press on the PTT to save and exit.

Hope this be of some help. Pls post back if it worked or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
