Question about Dell XPS M1530 Laptop
Laptop vga's out fine...no display on laptop screen on 1st & 2nd boot attempt. 3rd attempt, display appears, but colors are grey & purple during boot up, then displays ok, but screen brightness ajdustment does'nt work right. its brightest around the middle of ajdustment, but weaker on either side. I replaced screen so far.
If you have already replaced the screen...
Common problem when replacing equipment on laptops is that the "cable" goes into a flat housing that requires you to lift a little white "gate" then insert the cable and put the "gate" back down. Problems usually occur when snapping the "gate" back down. Pull the cable back out and be sure to lift the gate insert the cable and then put the "gate" back down. Once done give it a light tug and it should hold very firm and not move at all

Testimonial: "This solution sounds interesting, where is the white gait ? Is it on the board, etc...If this is the cause, are you saying the cable is having an issue ? Thanks."

Hi, Boot to windows, using whatever screen you can (external or lcd, whatever is presently working) Right click anywhere on the screen and go to properties (far right tab) you should see icons of two screens, and below that a button labeled "identify". Click on that button and see which screen is assigned number 1 and number 2. You can configure the display properties here, assigning primary and secondary screens, or sharing your desktop with each. Good luck

Well it is most likely a issue with the Video driver as you are able to boot to the safe mode.I would suggest going back to the safe mode and deleting the present driver for the video from the device manager.before you restart the system just download the latest version from the support.dell.com so that you can reinstall it.Also check in the graphic properties which screen is set to be the defuat.Incase still not working i would suggest reinstalling the operating system before replacing any hardware.
