Question about Hunter Fan Company 5/1/1 Programmable Thermostat
Just fixed mine;
Note the sensor channel on face of remote
Mine was set on Ch15, well the thermostat only monitors 14 channels had to flick down dip switch #1 to set Ch7.
Then on the base unit thermostat, see page 5 of a similar unit for 44668/44665 manual (below) then wait about 10 minutes for things to sync up, and press remote button to check sensor temp.
Note the button order for Remote Sensor Programming at base thermostat:

You can get the manual at: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/257219/Hunter-44665.html
Normally these thermostats read remote temperatures but do not use them for control. The external remote sensor is normally put outside in our area yeilding an inside out side thermometer.

most of my fan controls have done this to me. you know the reciever is working cuz the fan works fine. you need to dis assemble the remote completely and clean the contacts for the light button. mine are two small black dots that seem to keep getting slimey and wont work till i clean them, then all works like brand new again.

SOURCE: low battery on hunter 44422
I have the same unit, 44422. The base has four clips, two on the top and two on the bottom. The front portion is clip-on. Try to push on the base's bottom and pull off the front portion, like opening a book. After the battery replacement you will have to reset the unit trough the little reset hole. Otherwise, the ''LOW BATTERY" will not go away. Yes, you will have to reprogram the unit.

it also could be one of the the jumpers fell out of the remote
they are located just above the battery. you will need to match the placement of the jumpers with the receiver mounted in the fan.
