Have you checked that the wireless network connection is not disabled in "control panel" "network connections". Also check Device Manager and make sure that the wireless device is listed under network adapters. Have you turned off the wireless device in the bios? If you need help with any of these let me know. I will also need to know which operating system you are using i.e. XP or Vista

I set up my own wireless network and now my printer will not communicate with my laptop.WIFI light flashes red. Have tried everything to reconnect. Lexmark Z2420.

I suggest you reset the Lexmark Z2420 wireless network adapter. To reset, do the following: With the printer on, press and release the power button. The printer will enter power save mode. Now, press and hold the paper feed button. While holding down the paper feed button, press and release the power button. Continue holding the paper feed button for 30 seconds. Release the paper feed button. This will reset the internal network adapter (INA). When the printer has been reset, a solid orange Wi-Fi indicator light should appear. If Wi-Fi light goes back to flashing red, you have not successfully reset the printer. Start the procedure again. Once you have a solid orange Wi-Fi light, reconfigure the printer for wireless connection. Thanks.

Hi,

FN+F2 is given to disable and enable the wi-fi means once you will press it the wifi will turn on and in second attempt it will turn off.

Where is wifi switch on the compaq laptop?

Well, you haven't given the model number to your compaq. I will try to assist you the best I can, if this doesn't help then I ask that you provide the model number. Some of the Compaqs have a button right between the keyboard and the monitor(it looks like this: http://www.hp-pavilion.ru/Catalogimages/Compaq-Presario-C700/29945.jpg). Others will have a switch somewhere with a orange dot/light near it. If you don't see either of these then there is probably a function key for it. Incase you don't know how function keys work, functions are usually located under the F1-12 keys, you hold down the FN key and press the corosponsding Function. The Wi-Fi function key usually has the same symbol as the one in the picture above. If all else fails and your WiFi still isn't working you could have a more indepth issue.

if you have the same problems with usb then your problem lies outside the laptop. if your led does not light it is possible your laptop wasnt wired for wifi or your led is not working. Where you place the wifi card is there 2 wires 1 black and 1 white
