Hi, I hope this helps. It gets easier once you've done it a few times. At first it is not. That is why you need to follow the steps carefully, to not get lost. Good luck.
Get on the Internet and go to www.hp.com. Click on Software and Driver downloads. Under "support for your products", click your mouse in the place where you can type your product model. Just to the left it says "for product". Then type in laserjet 1010 and click on the double arrow to the right of what you typed. That takes you where you want to be. Under "select operating system click on your operating system.
Another page shows up, click on the down arrow to the far right of your screen until you see, on the middle of the screen a Driver section. Click on the download button next to the first one in the list. A screen will pop up giving you some choices. Click on Open. It may take over 10 minutes to download. When it's done a Winzip Self-extrator screen appears. Click on Unzip, it works even if you don't have Winzip. It will unzip to a folder named c:\lj1010seriesprintsys. get to that folder and click on hpsetup.exe. When the next screen appears, click on "install printer". Click next and select "connected directly to this computer" if you do not have a network. Click next and tell it what connection you have. Click Next, Next, Next, Next, Next, and Install. Thats the worst of it. Just follow the prompts from there.
