Question about Denon AVR-E400
I am using ARC on both the Denon and the Samsung smart TV. When working the sound is great, but for unknown reasons when Pandora switches to another song the receiver sometimes goes silent. Usually turning the Denon receiver off and back on solves the present NO sound issue. However a few times now the receiver locks up to the point it will not turn off. The plug has to be pulled. This never happens when listening to Netflix or cbl/sat. The receiver is one of the best sounding 7.1 channel receivers out there, but I am stumped as to why it is having trouble with Pandora via Samsung LED 3D TV?
Is the TV connected to the receiver with a digital connection (coax, or optical)?. Try setting it to PCM on the TV Some receivers don't like it when there is a break between tracks and the signal is lost. You won't get surround (but Pandora is just stereo anyway), but you can still use the Receiver's Dolby or DTS features to go multispeaker. Downside if of course that if you have other Multichannel audio sources through the TV, they may be lost. But it's worth checking..

Testimonial: "Connected via HDMI using the Audio Return Channel. Tried using the optical connection, but only got 2.1. I get (well it seems like) 5.1 with the HDMI. The sound is far superior to what the optical gave."

Usually, this is caused by a bad cable connection from the receiver to the TV. Try changing your cables or make sure to replug them tight and then restart both tv and the receiver. Are you using RCA or HDMI cables?

SOURCE: Just bought a 46" Samsung
This is a site where you can download a manual. I'm not familiar with Denen however, you should be able to go out of satellite receiver(HDMI) to your receiver input(tv/sat) then to your HDMI input on tv. Your receiver might show video and sound through another port of receivers options, ie; video 1, video 2, etc. Check all putput options for your picture and sound. Hope this helps.
