SOURCE: how do i use the inverse log operation on the TI-84

The problem is simple. You're trying to get an [H+] concentration which is obviously going to have a value of some number times ten raised to a negative power. Therefore, you have to insert the negative value of the pH into the 10^(x). When you insert said negative number you will come out with the right answer.

i.e.

The pH of a sample of human blood was calculated to be 7.41. What is the [H+] concentration of the blood?

10^(-7.41) = [H+]

[H+] = 3.9 E-8

(the answer should only have two sig. figs because the pH has two digits after the decimal.

SOURCE: Find the antilog on the TI-84 Plus for finding pH in chemistry problems

I'm not specifically familiar with the TI83 or TI84 but I've used a lot of TI calculators in my time, so I'll give it a try. If your trying to find the antilog of a number in base 10 enter the number and hit the (10 to the X) button. If you're trying to find the antilog of a number in in base e (natural log), enter the number and hit the (e to the X) button.

The 1/x is the same as the x^-1 button which is right above the x-square button.

SOURCE: how do I use the intersect function on the TI-84

- You draw two or more graphs.
- After the graphs are displayed, press [2nd][TRACE] to access the (CALC)ulate menu.
- Select [5:Interesct]
- You will be prompted for a first curve: the equation of the curve will be displayed at the top left corner of the screen. If it is one the intersecting curves, press [ENTER]
- You will be prompted for the second curve. (You can move from one curve to another by pressing the UpArrow or DownArrow).
- After two curves are selected, you will be prompted for a guess for the X-value of an intersection point: you can use the keypad to enter a guess or use the left or right arrow to move the cursor towards a point of your choosing (if there are more than one point).
- After a short while the calculator gives you a solution.
- If it fails, you must make a better guess.

You must have one of the newer OS versions (MP 2.53 and higher). You don't have anything under F5.

To type a letter of the alphabet, use the ALPHA keyboard. Press the ALPHA key followed by the letter you want.

The function keys originally have twp functions: One function accessed by pressing a function key directly, the other by first pressing the 2nd key then the function key.

With the newer operating systems, there is a third function associated with the function keys F1.F2,F3 and F4, but not F5 nor F6. This third function is revealed after you press the ALPHA key.

When the ALPHA key is pushed the cursor shows an A. Press one of the keys that has the same color as the ALPHA key (A,B,C,...X,Y,Z).

If you have the MathPrint OS, the ALPHA F1/F2/F3/F4 sequence activates shortcuts to newe features (fractions, logab, sums etc..)

I just had this problem: shortcut menus used to work, but stopped, with TI Version 2.55 MP. I discovered that running the preloaded app PlySmlt2 (others work, too) and quitting it fixed the problem, but that later running a non-TI app caused the problem again. So the non-TI app may be misbehaving, as suggested in this TI knowledge base article.

It depends on the version of the Operating system.

This works for Older and newer OS

Enter numerator, press the [division key], enter the denominator, press the [MATH] key and select [1:ToFrac] [ENTER]

With the newer OS versions 2.53 MP and following you can manipulate fraction more easily. If your calculator MODE is set to MathPrint, you can use the [Alpha][Function keys] to access some functionalities

This gives you access to the Tabs shown in the following screen capture.

Press 1:n/d for improper fractions or 2:Un/d for mixed numbers.

Press [ALPHA][Y=/F1] to activate the FRAC menu. You get a template for a stacked fraction, where you enter the numerator and denominator at their right places. Note that fractions are always reduced to their simplest forms.

The F1 key is activated by pressing the alpha (green button) and then the f1 key. If that doesn't work then your calculator may be broken and you might want to check with your warranty to get a new one.

As for the exponent key you can do this by pressing the ^ key and then placing parentheses around the two digit exponent. An example for 2 to the tenth power would be: 2^(10)

the F1-F4 keys are located at the very top of your keypad. They are also known as the 'Y=' WINDOW, ZOOM, TRACE, and GRAPH keys. If you look at these keys you will see f1-f4 printed on them in green.

The calculator OS has been upgraded to the version 2.53 MP.

For this version, whenever you remove batteries (or replace them) and turn calculator ON, you are reminded to Press [ALPHA][F1-F4] to locate Shortcuts Menu.

The calculator also asks the user to press either

[1:Do NOT show Again]

[2:Continue].

Here is what these cryptic messages mean.

Certain functions implemented on the new OS are available by pressing the [ALPHA] key followed by F1, F2, F3 or F4.

Since you may forget how to get to them, the calculator gently reminds you that there are other functions accessed only by pressing the [ALPHA] key.

It also gives you the option to flash the reminder every time the calculator memory is reset (CONTINUE) or NOT to SHOW the REMINDER again.

Usually after the RAM cleared message, press [2:Continue] or any other key but [1: ] to keep being reminded how to access the new functions.

Once a key is pressed the screen is cleared and you have the solid blinking cursor.
