Hi Shay877,

Well I would not use that UMD no more.
The UMD could have jarred the Laser and keeping it from moving. Sometimes you can clear this by forcing the laser to move some. You will hear it click a few times. Once you click it a few times one way or another. Try a UMD, Not the UMD that broke it, to see if that fixed

If a psp (system itself) is a region one, will it still play in a region 4?

PSP systems are region free, you can play a game from any country on them, however, UMD movies are region locked.

My son psp beep when you put a game in and the umd does not come up can you help please

f you are experiencing issues when using a Universal Media Disc (UMD™) on the PSP system, try these troubleshooting options:

  • Issues with PlayStation®Store content Click here for help with content purchased from the PlayStation Store.
  • Restore Default Settings Restore Default settings will default the PSP system to its original settings. A setting change may be the reason the PSP system is having difficulties. Click here to learn how to restore default settings on the PSPgo / PSP system.
  • Confirm UMD is properly inserted

Make sure the UMD is properly inserted with the label facing the back of the PSP system. Try removing the UMD and reinserting it.
Please note, it is normal for the PSP system to make noises while it is reading from a UMD.

For PSP-1001, slide the latch to open the UMD door. For the PSP-2001 and PSP-3001, simply lift the door open.

  • Try playing the UMD on a different PSP system If possible, try playing the UMD on a different PSP system. If the disc still does not function properly, it might need to be replaced. If the disc does function properly, the PSP system may need service, see PSP Service for details.
  • Try playing a different UMD on the PSP system If possible, try playing a different UMD on the PSP system. If another UMD plays, the original UMD may be the problem. If none of the UMD's play, the problem may be isolated to the PSP system.
  • Check for moisture Do not let the PSP system or any PSP® accessories come in contact with liquid. Also check for moisture condensation in the PSP system. If moisture condensation occurs, remove the disc from the PSP and do not use the PSP until the condensation has evaporated, which can take an hour or two. In general, if any part of the PSP gets wet, discontinue use until it is completely dry.
  • Check the regional code Check the regional code on the UMD™ Video. The only regional codes that the North American PSP® is tested to work properly with are "ALL" and "1.
    "
Tried these steps and still need help?

If you have tried the troubleshooting information above, but continue to experience problems, please contact our Consumer Services department to have your PSP system serviced.

PSP will not turn on

hmmm... that sucks. Could be a fried power slide-switch. If no power is getting through the system, even when using the AC adaptor, it's probably something in the power chain.

It might be of benefit if you could try the battery and power adaptor in someone elses PSP, if they both work then it's probably something internal, and it's not unheard of for the power switches to go kaput.

If it's under warranty, take it back. If not, you'll need to have it checked out I think.

Can't start..

The last CFw Update is 3.71M33-3.

What is version on your PSP? (on PSP Menu, move across to the "Settings Menu". Scroll down, select to "System Settings" > "System Information" and you should see version of your PSP.)

Here's, how to install CFw Guides. Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back a detail should you need additional information. ^_^

This link should help.

  • Try playing the UMD on a different PSP system. If the UMD plays, the original PSP system may be the problem. If the UMD does not play, the problem may be isolated to the UMD itself.
  • Try playing a different UMD on the PSP system. If another UMD plays, the original UMD may be the problem. If none of the UMD's play, the problem may be isolated to the PSP system.
  • Make sure the exposed UMD surface and plastic casing is not damaged[2]. Do not use if plastic casing is cracked, collapsed, or if foreign materials have entered inside the UMD enclosure.
