Tascam 388 The drive belt broke. After I replaced it for some reason the takeup reel moves backward when I push play. What's up??

This machine uses a servo tension system. I am guessing that when you changed the belt you also upset one of the sensors. You will need to get a service manual and go to the tension setting section to verify or correct what is going on. These units were pretty complicated for regular users.

Brio central station wont turn on

In order to get this to work, you need to bend the battery terminals to make a better connection with the batteries.

1. Open the battery compartment with a screwdriver.
2. Remove any batteries.
3. You need to very slightly bend the positive battery terminals on the top two battery slots. I suggest using a very small flathead screwdriver if you have one. Place the screwdriver between the terminal and the plastic casing and push the terminal toward the center of the battery compartment.
4. Do step 3 for the top and middle battery slot. You don't need to mess with the bottom slot, as it has a different type of terminal connector.
5. Replace the batteries and screw the compartment door shut. Your station should now work!

I have this game down loaded on my windows 7 computer and can not get it to work right! When i click on the game i can get through to where the slot machines are but when i click on a machine to play a...

I dont think you can . I have all the reel deal slots and none of them work with windows 7 directly. There is ittle or no help getting this to work on the EFX support site.
I am just taking the loss and throwing them all out none are worth anything to anybody I cant even give them away.
If there was a Windows 7 help on the support site this could be easier on all who have these.
Probably will no longer purchase the product, because the second there is a change we will be buying them all over again to meet the changes.

Hi my Dad has an Akai 1710 reel to reel tape recorder which is in good cosmetic & working order. However when the take-up reel has about 1/3 of tape on it the motor tends to slow down somewhat. What...

Most of the old tape units had rubber "pucks" and belts thaat drive the reels..

The pucks tend to dry out and deteriorate. You MIGHT be able to restore them a bit with the spray used to restore typewriter plattens.

N64 wont turn on... i miss it

Had the same problems.. the n64 just turned off after playing dr. mario for a few minutes... anyways, heres what worked for me

1. make sure your wall outlet works *sounds dumb, but better safe then sorry, plug in a light or something to make sure it works*

2. unplug EVERYTHING, controllers, vid cord, power etc

3. let everything be disconnected for about a minute or so, the AC adapter sometimes overheats and turns it self off which might be the problem.

4. ONLY plug in the AC adapter to the n64, make sure its firmly plugged in. turn it on.. it should light up now, if so, plug everything back in. enjoy :)

Repairing or replacing old tape decks

Hi m522posner

There is a surprising interest in "vintage" hifi products these days. Your tape machines probably needs new belts. Check this site out. You can get spares for your tape machine here. Belt kits are $17. He does repairs also, but the transport to and from may be an issue for you. I suggest emailing Bob, he may be able to refer you to someone in CA > I could do the repairs, but I am in Australia. :)

You could have a go at freshening up the belts yourself:)

Usually the tension of the take-up reel keeps the shut-off arm taught and everything works. If the shut off arm falls down, the recorder stops. Is that what's happening?

Inadaquate (or NO) take-up tension can cause this; so can WARPED take up reels. Another possibility: if you play a lot of old tapes, the groove in the shut-off arm collects dirt and oxide, so the tape - as it goes through it - jams, and the take-up reel can not overcome the tension. The arm "falls down" and shuts off the machine. Also SOME tapes (which were "cut down" from 2"
tapes) are poorly ****, and will jam some machines.

This is what I do for a living, so if these suggestions don't work, give me more information, and I'll solve your problem.

Machine won't work. kenmore 90 series

Might be a broken motor or a blown fuse. I would suggest having your machine looked at by a specialist. If it's old, you might consider replacing it.
