Question about DISH Network Televison & Video

Open Question

When I try to view my DVR option for recorded programs, a window comes up and reads, "This feature is currently unavailable. Please contact DISH customer service....." when I contacted CS, I was told it was bc my account was past due and service had been interrupted. However, my service has been interrupted a few times before but it NEVER had any affect on my DVR programs that had been previously recorded when service was on nor accessing the DVR option. Also it brings up the same box and message if I try to record a program from one of the channels that remain on even during service interruption. I don't think the CSR I spoke with had a clue as to what I was describing and she just kept repeating her "script" that she was obviously reading from. So, I am hoping you can help me and tell me why after several years of being a Dish Network customer that all of a sudden it won't let me access the.DVR option at all and I have had my service interrupted more than a couple of times without ever having an issue like this. Please help :-) Thank you,

SOURCE: Dish Network DVR VIP722 freezing up during playback

You more than likely are 100 percent correct. This is often the cause of the issue you had. The good news is that once the new receiver is in place you normally will not have any other issues as this receiver model is very reliable. One thing to consider is that Dish has some HD receivers available e.g. 222 etc that are non DVR but can act as a DVR unit with an external hard drive connected to the USB expansion port. This option gives you greater control of your recordings and eliminates the monthly DVR fee. There is a one time fee of 39.99 to make the USB port active but within the normal 24 month contract period that customers are often under one will have recovered all of the cost a the hard drive and the port activation fee. Just fodder for thought.

SOURCE: dvr not recording

It sounds as if your going to need to replace the receiver as the hard drive has an error on it. I assume you can record live TV. There are also few 510's in the Dish Network service area throughout the country so my suggestion is to have Dish send the receiver to your home as opposed to creating a work order for a technician to come to your home as it will be hard to ensure you get the 510 back.If you decide to upgrade to a HD receiver try to get a model that does not have the internal hard drive but also has the expansion port on it. There is a one time fee to activate this port of 39.99. This amount will be recovered in the first year by using an external hard drive eliminating the 5.99 DVR fee every month. This option also allows you to have better control of your recordings and makes them portable. They also will not be lost by replacing the receiver. If you are a real big tv fan check out the sling box offers. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

SOURCE: Will not record a program, can not access dvr

Hello this is Matthew Gonzales with DISH Network customer service. With a 024 message, the best thing that we can do is hard reset the receiver. To do a hard reset, you simply unplug the receiver from the power outlet it is connected to, leave it unplugged for 20 seconds, then plug it back in. The receiver reboot process takes about 5 minutes. Once the show is back on, try accessing your DVR again, if it is still not working, the receiver will need to be replaced. If this is still a problem, please feel free to email me at matthew.gonzales@dishnetwork.com with your account number so we can get this resolved.

How do I transfer recorded programs from my 622 DVR to my home computer?

http://www.dishnetwork.com/downloads/user-guides/receivers/622_UserGuide.pdf
User guide. above.
You would have to connect up, using a PC & DVR software and some form of TV/Video recording Card, or USB device. Then connect up via AV, Composite, Yellow, Video. White & Red Audio. and "Capture" either live video & Audio, so basically whatever was viewed on the screen, would be "Recorded" on the PC, via the TV/Video interface device, if using a laptop, then a USB "Dongle" & software would be the best. In a Desktop, a PCI-I card would be Best, Then using the Software that comes with the devices, you "Record" with that and "Play" with the Dish DVR, and save, the Streamed Video & Audio to the PC. Now, If you have Component Out, on the Dish, then this is the one to use, If you choose this way, remember the Device you are going to use Must have a Component INPUT as well, as A Stereo Audio Input, so ensure the device you get has that feature.

Every program scheduled to record starts and ends five minutes early? So the end of the preceding program is recorded and the end of the selected program is cut off.

BigBillO,

One of the options for the DVR recordings is starting and ending before the program starts and ends. You can change this setting to your preference. To change , press the DVR button 2 times on your DISH remote. This will bring up the "My Recordings" screen on your TV. Go to "Schedule" button on the right side of the screen. Press select. You should be on the "Daily Schedule" screen. Go to "Timers" button on the right of the screen. Press select. You are now on the "Timers List" screen. Select one of the programs scheduled to be recorded and press "Select". You are now on the "Timer Schedule" screen. Go to "Options" button and press select. You are now on the "Timer Options" screen. This is the screen you can set your preference for the "start early" and "stop late" settings. Be sure to select the "Set as System Default" if you want to apply this setting to all your recordings. I hope this helps.

How do I find History on DVR & retrieve my protected recordings?

In order to find your protected recording in the history on your DVR, you would simply press the button specifically labeled, "DVR" on your DISH Network remote, the DISH On Demand screen will then come on your tv, proceed by selecting "My recordings," on the "My Recordings" screen you will then select the "Sort" option. Once you have selected the sort option it will allow you to specify how you want the recordings sorted- the option you would want to select is, "Protected." I hope this helps you out, let me know if you need any other help! -Kirstie DISH Network

I want to copy the programs recorded on my dvr 510.

According to engineering aspects of the 510 it is not designed to allow the recordings to be transferred. The only option you have is the option you mentioned or purchasing the 510 and having it incorporated into the new system so you can access them. I am sorry I did not have any better news for you. Thanks for using Fix Ya and if you need further assistance please let me know.

Problem with DISH DVR 625

You can accomplish this by either going to the specific TV and selecting the record option at the time the program is about to come on or you can press menu-8-5 and change the record preferences. You can either set the DVR to record programs to the TV2 location by default or TV1 by enabling the record plus feature. In dual mode without record plus enabled all programs you select to record default to the tuner you are viewing e,g, if watching tv1 and selecting to record a program in the future it will record to the tv1 location. In single mode all recordings default to tv2 so you can continue to watch live tv from tv1. I hope this answers your question and thanks for using Fix Ya. Let me know if I can further assist you.

How do i choose tv1 or tv2 on my DVR?

Your recording will record onto your one DVR box, for playback on either tv. On many satelite boxes you have to search for the program you want by entering the name. Then select the program and select to record the future broadcast.
