Question about Texas Instruments TI-5045 SVC Calculator

1 Answer

After 20 yrs. of use, it seems to need more ink. I have the TI-504511 Model calculator. Can the ink be replaced??? I can't even see where the ink pad/roll is, so I'm thinking I have to just buy another calculator. Thanks for any help you can supply. M.E. Capaldi

If you remove the clear plastic cover from over the printer you will see the print head. With the power off if you gently push the print head it will move left/right. Notice that the top of the print head moves. There should be a small tab on the left side of the top - mine has 'pull up' embossed on it. The print roller is fixed on its underside.
So yes it can be replaced, if you can find a new one

Calculator will not print

I don't think you'll find parts for this, however I did find a used one, buy it now, for less than $20, shipped: http://cgi.ebay.com/Texas-Instruments-Electronic-Printng-Calculator-TI-5045_W0QQitemZ160148715050QQcmdZViewItem Buying a used unit and either replacing yours or using it for parts is probably your best bet.

I am looking on Craigs list at a TI-83 plus that is 5 yrs. old. Is this unit as good as a new one? ( or one that is two yrs. old)

A TI-83 Plus is a TI-83 Plus. An old one may not have the most current firmware or apps, but you can download those from

Where can I purchase a print roller for the TI 504511 calculator? On-line, Office Depot, etc? I live in Nashville TN.

Go to Staples for the Porelon PR-42 ink roller. A single pack goes for $7.49 + tax, & a 2-pack (the better value) goes for $9.49 + tax.

It seems like a basic algebra problem:
300%(what)=60
3(x)=60
x=20

300%(20)=3(100%(20))=3(20)=60
