Why would I be getting water build up to ice below the meat tray?

Water filter is changed as needed, no water in the door, just the ice maker in the bottom freezer. Took out a 3/8 slab of ice this morning

I'm no expert but because of all the problems I've had with my SAMSUNG refer, I'm getting to be more of an expert than I want to be! My Samsung French Door, Bottom Freezer (Model RFG297AARS) was leaking into the refrigerator & pooling under the deli drawer.


Repair required removing all of the interior drawers & shelves and the interior back panel. There you will find the defrost heater. Behind the defrost heater is a metal plate as well as one on the back of the front interior cover which have troughs to direct the defrost water into the defrost drainage hole. Both plates' troughs were corroded and in need of replacement. The corroded edge allowed defrost water to miss going down the drain hole and instead, enter into the interior of the refrigerator. Once the panels are removed, make sure the drain hole is clear of any obstruction. Your can use a very flexible bottle or tubing brush being careful not to damage any surrounding parts or the drain hole. I ordered Samsung part #'s AP5577767, plate drain & AP5587916, evaporator plate and replaced both (In your case, order parts DA61-04148A &DA61-04701B) . I also bought cold weather foil tape at the hardware store to hold the plates in place and to seal around the edges of the metal plates. This repair is not a terribly difficult task but you have to empty out the entire contents of the refrigerator to access the back panel. Just be real careful not to bend or puncture the defrost heater's tubing. The work took about an hour & I used a large camping cooler and frozen ice packs to keep the perishables cold while doing the work.

The unit self defrosts and this creates water. There is a drain tube that is supposed to let the water go to the bottom of the outside underneath. If that tube is plugged or damaged the water runs down the inside and creates ice.

Ice maker wont make ice


Is water getting into the ice tray of maker? If not check for the water solenoid's proper operation. Is freezer temp at least 10 degrees or less? If not, the ice maker will not work. If ice in tray then perhaps the heater element is not working to melt it a tad ans allow the fingers to pudh the ice out and into the tray.

Ice maker doesn't make ice anymore. The water works and dispenser levers on the door work for both ice (use store bought ice dumped into tray) and water. I replaced the filter after it quit making ice. Not...


you've already done the first thing i suggest, and that is to change the water filter. But if you still cant get ice made, you have a problem with either your ice maker or your water valve, or an electrical issue in the ice maker system.

Water accumalating in the bottom of the fridge.


A common problem. All modern refrigerators have an automatic deicer. The heater kicks in, then MELTS the ice in build up in the freezer for a short period before freezing again. This water drains either in the fridge or out the back to the catch tray. Simply pull out the bottom drawers and clean the clogged drain hold where the water can drain and evaporate in the catch tray as it is designed to.

Ive got a GE profile and my ice maker stopped working. I get water through the door so i took the ice maker line off to see if it was clogged or something. its weird no water comes out the ice maker side...


GE made different versions of the model listed above your post. If the Ice Tray is empty pour tap water into the tray and let it freeze. If it empties on its own, then I would tell you that the water control valve for the ice make is defective. For a few years the ice maker came with an electronic control board behind the front cover on ice maker. To make sure I will need you to look for the correct model number on locations pointed out below in photo. You also are welcome to get answers from me or our sites free. I have a Kitchenaid Superba and when ever we turn on the ice maker. it says our filter needs to ebe changed. is that a problem? However before even when the filter was bad it still made ice. whats wrong?


Most refrigerators with filters will not work...with a bad filter...they will work initially ...for a while after the filter indicates it needs to be changed but over time the filter can become completely clogged...and no water will flow...also the impurities that were being filtered out...are now in the water and the ice and can accumulate in the ice tray...or at the spot where water is dispensed into the tray...with real hard water calcium can build up and inhibit water flow. I would definitely change the filter..... I had the same problem and the filter and the monitor for the filter are tied into the circuitry...so yes it can definitely stop the water flow.

Ice maker not working


check to see if your on/ off switch is green on the im 1st. 2nd make sure that you have properly seeded the dispenser tray by using the cross method. the auger arm at the back of the tray turn vertical and the auger mtr gear in the rf turn horizonal then insert the tray in the machine

Ice maker jambed-now no water


The ice maker must be re-primed with water to sense frozen ice in the tray, dump, and refill. Use a cup or glass to manually pour the water into the tray just below the top of the blades. It should freeze, dump, and refill.

Ice maker problems


the heater on the ice maker has gone bad the easiest way to fix is to replace ice maker.the heater is on the bottom of the maker and heats tray up to harvest ice if it dont the ice will stick.But try taking maker out and cleaning it real good with a light spongee (Scrubee)
let it dry then spray some a light coat of pam (or similar) into ice bins and try that ahrd water will eat the coating off the bins
