Question about Sharp Aquos Televison & Video

1 Answer

My TV will connect to the network but is not connected to the internet.

My internet provider and sharp keep telling me to call the other one. Sharp has already replaced the wireless board. Comcast has checked the gateway settings but none of the "smart" features work.

SOURCE: Sharp Aquos LC-37P50E connected to computer with HDMI cable

Hi,

I got the chat , but some how it got disconnected.
But i would like to help you in this aspect.
HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface, and supports transmission of both audio and video in high fidelity.

First make sure these things,

Both your computer and your TV will need to support HDMI interface.
It's quite a recent thing in PC graphics cards, so you may have to resort to S-Video, DVI or VGA for the video, plus a 3.5mm stereo cable (or the optical TOSLINK equivalent) for the sound.

Let know your comments and i will follow up with the suggestions.
Thanx for using fixya,
Good luck.

SOURCE: Close captioning on HDMI

The TV will not display closed caption with HDMI input. It must either over-the-air (antenna) or composite input for the TV to manage CC.

To get CC with HDMI from your Comcast DVR, you need to configure the cable box. Instructions can be found here:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/How_to_use_a_Motorola_DVR/Setup

If you want CC all of the time, this works well. But since you must power-off the cable box to change the setting, switching CC on and off is a real pain.

Your set-up is similar to mine (Sharp Aquos 46" and Comcast DVR). I have the composite output from the cable box going to a DVD-recorder and on to the TV. Whenever I need CC (usually to catch some mumbled dialog), I just rewind the DVR, and switch the TV input to the composite input. Then I switch back to HDMI to continue watching in HD.

SOURCE: incompatible signal

Check your resolution settings on you playstation 3 menu's. If you are using an HDMI cable, there is a chance that your ps3 could be trying to output at 1080i or 1080p. The unit you have only goes up to 720p and if you set it any higher than that, you run the risk of having picture issues, or not getting a picture at all. Good luck to you

SOURCE: My Sharp TV will only hear sound. No picture or images even from the tv menu setup option. Model# LC-19SB25U. About 1.5 yrs old. Converter box ok.

In most cases, you can reset the TV by leaving it unplugged for 30mins.
If this doesn't work, I believe the circuit board that supplies power to the screen maybe bad. They call this board a backlight inverter board. It would most likely cost more to repair than replace the TV .

I need directions to connect internet to my sharp tv

Model number required for specific answer.
Generic steps are to access the menu and look for options labeled internet or Network.
Choose connection type either Wired or Wireless.
If Wireless look for the network name (SSID) for your network. Select that and enter the network password.
If you plug the TV directly into your router via an ethernet cable you should automatically connect.
Launch installed app to verify connectivity.

Got this sharp LC-60LE741E tv as Xmas gift and been fighting with it since. It's a nightmare to get it to connect to Internet both via wireless or wired. Can sm1 help please? Is it advisable t

If you have a wireless network, you will need the SHARP wireless USB adapter that was included with the TV plugged into the back of the TV. Press the 'Home' button on the remote and navigate to Network Setup / Auto Setup. Select the 'Wireless' connection and follow the prompts to enter your wireless key or setup using the WPS button method. Verify the connection test works OK when you're done. This is covered on page 57-58 of the manual.

Can i connect my Sharp flatscreen tv to my wifi

Ron, in order to connect your TV to your home network, it will need an network interface. A network interface can be either a wired network jack on the TV itself, or a built in wireless capability (WiFi). You didn't provide the model number of your particular Sharp TV, so I can't tell you if your TV offers this connectivity or not.

Even if your TV offers wired or wireless connectivity, some TVs only allow network access to update firmware or to display "still" JPEG or GIF images; not to stream audio or video. The TV will need to have some sort of player to display or play video and / or audio files. Even then, if the TV is not fairly new enough, it may lack the support for newer file formats - such as .MKV, MPEG, etc. that are used for a large number of HD content.

You can get around this hurdle by connecting a newer computer to the TV. Purchase a wireless keyboard & mouse and connect the computer's video card to the TV so that it will appear as a monitor to the computer. Make sure your get a video card in the computer that will provide a digital video output - (HDMI, DVI, etc.) and a cable that can plug into one of the unused A/V inputs on the TV. If using a cable other then HDMI, you'll need to provide a cable between the computer's audio output and the TV's audio input. Use the computer's network interface to download or stream a program directly to your 55 inch "monitor".

I hope this helps - good luck!

Sharp 37" LCD/TV will not remain programmed with DirectV. DirectV technicians have come out to re-program the Sharp TV. They simply say over and over again that it is a Sharp problem. They keep telling me...

First of all any make or model tv will work with any directv receiver as long as it is connected properly. In my expierence Sharp TVs are compatible with all directv recievers. Is the directv remote not functionly properly with your sharp tv or do you have a black or snowy display. Your tv has to be on correct input in which the technician should of educated you on this instead of suggesting the purchase of a sony branded tv. Black or snowy display indicates the wrong input. Using the tv remote find a button labeled source or av or input and try pressing that button until you see a picture. otherwise call directv tech support at 800-347-3288 and demand that this issue is resolved immediately.
