Hi bryan Brown, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?

Does it flash and immediately reboot?
    Does it beep at all?
Is there any noise from the PC itself (fans, hard drive noise, etc?)

My laptop will not load, just flashes on and off

Can you still see the logo which you usually see when it was still working just fine?

There are two process right after you pressed on the power button.

1. POST
2. BOOT

POST (shows up the computer's logo//eg. ASUS, DELL) is the first process that the computer does. It checks all hardware parts in the computer - if the hardware parts in your computer have no problem then the computer proceeds to BOOT.

BOOT happens after the POST process. This is the final booting procedure. After POST or Pre Operating System Test. The computer loads up the operating system that's why you can see the Windows logo this time.

In fxing your issue, you have to identify which causing it. You will know that by knowing if the issue happens during POST or BOOT. If you can still see the computer's logo eg. ASUS, DELL or whatever computer you have then it's not a hardware problem.

If you see the logo and you don't see the windows logo, then it's a software issue.

Please observe that and let me know which part has the issue.

Thank you very much.

Help i have a dell inspiron 530s and all of a sudden my keyboard and mouse do not work on when the logo of windows comes on in start up nor the mouse or keyboard work but my keyboard works on f2 and f8...

Try restoring your system bios to factory default and this may fix your problem. If not- post again with results and we'll go from there.

Entering System Setup

Turn on your computer.

When the blue DELL logo is displayed watch for the F2 prompt to appear (black screen / white text).

Once this F2 prompt appears, immdiately press F2 .

The F2 prompt indicates that the keyboard has initialized and is detected. This prompt can appear very quickly. Watch for it to display as the screen powers up, and then press F2. If you press F2 before you are prompted, this keystroke will be lost. There is a small window of time to do this before Windows starts.
If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until you see the Microsoft Windows desktop. Then, shut down your computer and try again to enter setup. At setup check your bios version. It may need to be flashed (upgraded). Select load factory defaults to see if that will resolve your PCI issues.

How do i restart my dell laptop in safemode?

Restart the computer. After the initial splash screen, but BEFORE you see anything pertaining to Windows, start tapping the F8 key.
Once again. When starting up, you'll see the initial Dell Logo, and right when it flashes away, start hitting the F8 key and it will load advanced startup options which will allow you to select safe mode.
If Windows starts before you get to that screen, you did it too soon, or too late.

When switching on my dell inspiration2200 laptop on,the dell logo comes on then screen goes blank with small white dash on top left side flashing.have tried ctrl f11 several times

By pressing ctrl f11 after when the dell logo comes on, it will do a process to return your computer to its factory settings and will delete all the data in your computer. It will be back to the state when you first bought your computer. Just wait a little longer for the process to finish. If after an hour it does not do anything then the process has a problem. You will have to do a clean install. And to do this you need your Operating System install cd.

How to access bios on Dell Inspiron 546

As soon as you turn your computer on, and see the Dell logo, start tapping the F2 key.
If you miss this window of opportunity, wait until Windows has fully loaded, then restart your computer. Try again.

(The Dell logo comes up pretty fast. If you miss entering BIOS Setup, {System Setup is Dell's term}, then as soon as you press the Power On button, start tapping on the F2 key. Tap in 2 second intervals)

The screen goes very dark within a minute after booting up = I can just barely see the menu page

When you say screen goes very dark when it booted to windows so it means that when you turned on the laptop when the dell logo flashes the screen was fine? if thats the case could you please try this. after turning on the laptop you will see the dell logo flashes immediately keep tapping on F2 and then it will show you the BIOS setup utility, please check if in BIOS setup display goes dark as well. If yes then try this, after turning on the computer when dell logo flashes keep tapping on F12 to boot menu then select utility partition to run the diagnostics. Please run test on the LCD check if display goes black when running the LCD test. Then try this when you sees the dell logo keep tapping on F8 to boot in safe mode check if in safe mode display goes very dark. Try this too, boot in F8 then select last known good configuration check if the settings on your display will be fix. If you can boot to safe mode no problem then uninstall the display or video driver. then restart computer.
You can also try to connect an external monitor if you have one just try to isolate if issue is on the LCD or the video card. If the display is dark as well in external monitor then video card needs to be reseated if fails then replaced. In situation like this most video cards is integrated to the motherboards. So replace motherboard.
