Question about Humax Televison & Video

1 Answer

Why is my Humax 4000 very slow, freezing and scrambled saying bad signal.

Slow to respond to handset. When on for a while a lot of channels freeze, turn it off, turn on again and is better, then freezes in minutes again. Channel 3 and 5 say they are scrambled and bad signal (O.K. with TV alone so signal o.k.)and to retune which I keep doing other channels freezing. This is happening on two Humax boxes, one 2 years old the other 3. How to fix?

Check the signal level and quality. Reseat all aerial connections.

Humax are having problems and are starting to send out software upgrades (night-time updates) - seems to be related to the new formats on the MUXs for the digital switch-over. Our 9150T hasn't been fixed yet but due any day (I hope)

I have lost TG4 & RTE 1 & RTE -how do i restore

Sounds like you have a problem with the aerial or the connection cable. Hows the signal level and quality on the other channels? You need about 80% quality and 50-80% signal level for a decent stable picture. Quality is by far the most important.

sig strength 29 is too low to lock onto. Humax needs 50+ to lock ideally 65+

is the aerial ok? try the set on someone elses aerial. If no joy then its possible the tuner is duff...but thats virtually unheard of.

Is it the DCT or the cable signal?

if you are getting signal of the proper strength and quality the cabling is good.the problem is the box trying to decode the signals.a lot of signals are encripted and have to be decoded by the box.if the box is not responding fast enough you will see bloches on the tv.if you see scrambled channel you are not payinfor that channel.and if you are paying for a channel and it comes up scrambled your box is not working correct.get your company to upgrade the box.
