These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Sony Bravia KDL-xbr4 Replaced TCON board All worked great for a week Had an issue w/ HDMI cable at the box fixed it and now tv comes and the goes off to 6 blinking red lights

6 red flashes- backlight issue, bad main board, or power board or inverter boards- check standby volts on power board. "backlight on" volts should be 3-5v from main logic board then 24v to inverter

Have this from a youtube link find BUT
Better is to look first also on bad leaking or bulged capacitors thats better to replace in the bad components to get a repair because active components died on bad capacitors but after a while because on the build-in protection circuit by faults like deformed or leaking capacitors and even several fuse resistors then after replace a complete board again after a while you will may be get the same kind of problems again, take If you find some or much bad capacitors replacements 10 volts dc higher . begin with control on the power supply first of all.

Hi Nick, Please trace the 12V line. Most probably it is coming from the main board.

Sony Bravia KDL-60EX500 no longer turns on.

Refer to Sony KDL 55EX500 Troubleshooting Manual Protection Mode Symptom...
5X Blink - TCON & HFR Failure
The 5X blink protection mode indicates a communications error between the TCON/HFR board and the MT5388 microprocessor on the A-Board.
First replace the TCON/HFR Board if the 5X protection mode blink pattern occurs. If the TCON/HFR Board does not repair the problem then replace the A-Board.

I have a 2011 Sony bravia LCD TV model kdl 40ex621....I hit power button and red led turns green then switches right back to red and blinks 4 times, I need to know what board to replace. Thank you!!

Hi Loren,
Timing control ( TCon) board seems to be the culprit in this case. Please check the connectors and the cables to and fro TCon before going for the replacement.
Good luck.

Power indicater blinks 6 times

"Backlight Error" and the possible location listed is "LCD Panel"
The "LCD Panel" includes the "Inverter MT board" and the "TCON control MT board". The part numbers depend on the serial number of your KDL32BX300. Only one of the inverter boards is available separate from the "LCD Panel". One of the "LCD Panel" assemblies is available for a cost of $518.45. If the serial number of your TV begins with a 5, you are in luck if you would like to replace the "LCD Panel".

What does it do if you unhook the flat cables going from the tcon to the panel, does the blinking go away and do you have sound then?

The TV won't turn on, and the standby light is blinking in groups of 5. The manual mentions this, but only that the number of blinks is significant, not in which way. What do we do?
