You can just log in iCloud.com and download the photos off iCloud. Just follow the below steps.

iCloud is a remote server that allows Apple users to store various files like photos, contacts, music, documents and calendars. With it, you can easily share and send files to your friends. Meanwhile, you can read them on different devices if your iPhone data is lost. If you are finding a way to download photos from iCloud to MacBook directly, you can take a look at the following steps.
1. Enter iCloud official website and then input your Apple ID and password.
2. Navigate to "Photos" on the main interface and you will see photos on iCloud. In the left sidebar, you can click on different categories to select photos.

3. Select photos you want to download by holding "Command" and then click the download icon at the top right corner to choose destination folder on the pop-up dialogue. Now you download iCloud photos to Mac.

Download and install "icloud for windows"

1. Open iCloud for Windows.
2. Log into your icloud.
3. Click the Options button next to Photos (or Photo Stream). Note the path listed under iCloud Photos location.
4. Open a File Explorer window (Windows 8) or Windows Explorer window (Windows 7).
5. Go to the iCloud Photos folder using the above path. Open the Shared folder.
6. Select the photos you want to save, then copy them to another folder on your computer. Include this folder if you back up your computer

Example: if the file path under iCloud photos Location is:
C:/program files x86/itunes/icloud/photos

Open the file browser and select the drive labeled "C:/"
Then select the folder named "program files x86"
Then select the folder named "itunes"
Then select the folder named "icloud"
Then select the folder named "photos"
The photos on your icloud will be contained within this folder. Save them by copy and pasting them to another folder on your PC.

It's in your best interest to transfer the photos to a local storage solution, perhaps an external hard drive, or another cloud based drive. Once you cancel the service, no guarantee that your data will still be there, so take care of your data and those precious photos.

I want to delete photos etc ond my icloud to get more space without buying more storage?

The following guide will show you how to delete unwanted photos/videos on iCloud.

1. Tap on Setting > iCloud > Storage. Then tap on Manage Storage.
2. And then tap on This iPhone.
3. Under the Backup options, you will see Photo Library option, set the slider to OFF position.
4. Tap on Turn off & Delete to delete all photos and videos from iCloud.

After deleting existing photos and videos, you can either set the Photo Library back to ON position and start backing up new photos to iCloud or keep it OFF and use Photo Stream. How can I manage my icloud to gain more storage space without paying for more storage space?

Here are some methods to help if you don't have enough space on iCloud.

Method 1. Delete Photos/Videos from iCloud
One of the biggest data hogs to take up your iCloud storage space is the photos and videos. iPhone/iPad will automatically back up all your videos and photos to your iCloud. Therefore, deleting photos and videos from iCloud will free up iCloud storage a lot.

Method 2. Delete Data & Documents
If you still find that there is no enough storage on your iCloud, you can try to delete these app-related documents and data to free up iCloud storage.
1. Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage.
2. Select an app under "Documents & Data".(The first one genrally takes the biggest storage)
3. After selecting the app, tap the "Edit" tab in the upper right corner and then select the specific document to remove, or tap the "Delete All" tab.

Method 3. Close Unnessary Backups for Apps
If there are entire apps that you don't need to backup, you can do so by following the steps below to fix not enough iCloud storage for your iOS devices:
1. Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage.
2. Select the device you want to manage the backup for.
3. Under "Backup Options", toggle apps off that you do not want to sync to iCloud.

Some other guides will be introduced in the following article. Please feel free to check them out.
