possible-- as it the chinese governments intention to use renewable energy
to that effect they are producing and using solar panels just about everywhere , converting dams to hydro power and wind where possible

Solar Air Heating - You Can Cut Utility Costs and Save Money

Solar energy is becoming very quickly recognized as one of the best alternatives to fossil fuels It is an abundant and renewable natural resource. It can be used to save energy in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Solar technologies will use the sun's energy to provide heat, hot water, light, electricity, and cooling, for homes, businesses, and industry.

Many major advancements have been made in the solar technology fields over the recent years. Solar air heating is becoming more attractive than ever before now that it is becoming lower in cost and more efficient. Solar energy is easily the cleanest and most inexhaustible of any of the known energy sources. The many variations in energy prices have fueled interest in alternative fuels such as solar energy. Demand for solar energy has been increasing exponentially as heating, cooling and many other energy costs continue to skyrocket.

Solar air heating and solar water heating are two examples of solar thermal technologies which produce heat, but not electricity. Solar air heat is best suited for installation in new construction and existing houses. Solar panels for any type of heating should be placed on a south-facing pitched roof, free of shade. The angle should be between 20 and 50 degrees. They may also be mounted on an angled frame on the ground or on a flat roof. Solar air collectors (the devices that heat up the air using solar energy) can directly heat individual rooms. They also can potentially pre-heat the air passing into a heat recovery ventilator or the air of an air-source heat pump. Solar heating panels can be one of the most cost effective ways to reduce your utility bills. This will make a positive contribution towards a better environment. Solar air heating systems often use large bins filled with rocks that store heat (although this method is becoming rare due to problems associated with controlling moisture and mold growth in the rock).

Energy Policy Act has implemented a 30% tax credit for consumers who chose to install solar water heating systems. State and local government programs are now being put in place to encourage the use of solar energy. Cash incentives are available for those that integrate solar energy technology as an alternative energy source. The Department of Energy (DOE) is working to design even more cost-effective solar heating systems and to improve the longevity of the materials used in those systems. Other incentive programs now include offering homeowners tax credits for solar panel installations and for solar heating systems. With solar power you will save money, increase your property value, help protect the environment and help to create a more secure America by reducing our dependence on foreign energy fuel sources.

A great solar heating system will save energy, reduce utility costs, and produce clean energy.

Should people invest renewable energy?

While it's fairly easy to fit solar panels on your roof to generate electricity - and save money - investing in funds that hold the wind and solar firms offers more of a challenge.
It sounds like the perfect investment. Equip your house with solar panels and look forward to dramatically reduced utility bills and the potential to earn a handsome return by selling any excess energy to the electricity grid.
Thousands of people across the country have already embraced this idea since the government introduced the Feed-in Tariffs (FIT) Scheme in April 2010 to encourage the uptake of small-scale renewable and low-carbon technologies.
Greg Shreeve, the insight manager at the Energy Saving Trust, believes getting solar panels installed is a no- brainer for many people. The potential benefits to be enjoyed, he argues, more than makeup for the upfront costs.
"The technology pays for itself within 11 years and will go on generating electricity for your home," he says. "It's a great way to actually start making money when energy prices are rising. It's free electricity and low-carbon technology, so a winner all round."

Why is coal a nonrenewable energy source, but biomass, such as wood, considered a renewable energy source?

coal is a fossil energy source, like oil and gas - all these are considered nonrenewable - well it does takes a couple of million years to form these whereas a tree grows within a couple of years.

Why do we need renewable energy?

This helps to reduce climate change. By using renewable energy sources like solar energy, we also reduce our dependence on fossil fuel gas and oil reserves, which are becoming more expensive and difficult to find. It also reduces our dependence on imported fossil fuels, improving our energy security.

What are the probles when using solar energy sourse

Not using enough solar panels or total output to match the needs for what you would be using it for. Small solar panels (35-100 watt) are great just to keep 1-4 batteries charged when not in use but if you plan to be running an inverter and powering appliances, living quarters in an RV or larger scale living, that if when you would need A LOT of solar panel and a basement full of batteries to use at all times. A lot of money would be spent on the panels and batteries but if you do not have the right equipment to control the electricity and monitor everything, you may be better if donating the money to a good charity where it will be much more useful and greatly appreciated

What's an example of a passive form of solar energy?

Passive solar energy can be used to keep buildings warm. Some buildings have large windows on the side of the building the sun hits. The sun's ray go through the windows and penetrate the heat-absorbent floors and walls. At night, this heat is released into the building.
