Question about Whirlpool Dishwashers
Pump. A defective pump and/or pump seal may be the cause of a dishwasher leak. The function of the pump is to circulate water in the dishwasher and in some models, to drain the water as well.

SOURCE: dishwasher leaking from bottom
The leak is coming from the main seal? The chopper thingy on these old machines will not come out without a fight. These impellers have been there a long time and has had lots of hard water and crud to hold them on. Get a screwdriver or a reasonable facsimile and carefully bust it off. Be careful not to damage the shaft. If you pull the whole motor assembly out, replace the rubber gasket too.

Water is being forced out under the bottom door seal. Is the lower spray arm melted on the bottom? Or is there something directing the water flow toward the bottom of the tub instead of up toward the dishes?
