Sounds like you have a plugged drain tube. You can look in the back in the compressor compartment and look for a hose about the size of a chapstick. try a turkey baster to push air or water in it , or a small wire to clear the blockage.
Always disconnect power before attempting to repair any electrical appliance

sounds like you have a clogged defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you acess to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somwhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials works awesome, after you clear it and all water drain down tube wrap a piece of solid copper wirearound the heater( black calrod heater right above the drain trough) and stick it in the whole maybe an inch or so. now everythime the heater comes on to defrost it will prevent the hole from freezing over

SOURCE: Water dripping into refrigerator from freezer

DRAIN TROUGH IS PLUGGED OR FROZEN. EMPTY FREEZER AND REMOVE LOWER TRAY TO SEE A HOLE ALL THE WAY IN THE BACK USUALLY IN THE CENTER. CHECK TO SEE IF WATER CAN DRAIN THROUGH BY POURING A CUP OF IT INTO HOLE. IF IT IS FROZEN POUR HOT WATER UNTIL IT THAWS, IF PLUGGED REMOVE THE OBJECT.

SOURCE: water dripping from freezer onto top shelf of fridge with ice buildup back of freezer

the defroster isn't close enough to the drain to be effective. remove the back wall of the inside of the freezer, remove the excess ice. clear out the ice from the drain using hot water and a turkey baster. there is a kit from whirlpool that uses a piece of metal and a screw around the defrost rod, but I found out that a piece of 14 gauge solid core wire with the insulation stripped off works great too. stick the stripped wire into the drain, 2 to 3 inches, and wrap the rest around the defrost rod.

SOURCE: we have water laying on the bottom shelf every day

Under the evaporator coils is a drain. It catches the defrost water and directs it to a pan above the compressor where it evaporates. The drain clogs and water cascades down the back wall ending up under the crispers. Get a shop vac and open the drain.

How to remove bottom shelf to clean inside bottom of freezer?

Good Morning Wayne,

I see that you want to remove the bottom shelf of your Frigidaire freezer, to clean inside the bottom of your appliance. To remove the shelf, you will pull it out and lift it up. If you are having troubles getting the bottom shelf out, I suggest contacting a local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose exactly what is causing the shelf to stay inside your freezer. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Kenmore refrigerator with a bottom freezer leaks water on floor

Hello Wayne,
You already mentioned the reason for the excess water. When the freezer automatically defrosts itself once every 24 hours the melted water drains down through a tube down to a water pan at the bottom of the refrigerator where it sits and supposedly evaporated by the fan back into the atmosphere. However in your case the excessive dust is preventing the evaporation phase to occur by the fan. You need to vacuum as much of the dust as possible and your problem will disappear.
Good Luck

My ice cubes have a funny odor/taste.

Does your refrigerator have a water filter? if it has one it will be in the kickplate/grill below the freezer door. If it has one replace the filter.

something easy to try is to clean the evap. usually on the bottom. warm soap and water, or compressed air usually does the trick. it's the easiest thing to try.

Water pools at bottom of freezer, freezes and water leaks out

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove bottom shelf from fridge and remove the styrofoam..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the Freezer is because the water has been leaking into the freezer instead of running into the drain hole...Please feel free to comment again if you need any further assistance. Our upright freezer drips water on the floor. We believe the seal is bad since ice also forms inside at the top of the door. Is the seal replaceable or should we buy a new unit?

Self-defrosting refrigerators/freezers dispose of the water generated during the defrost cycle, usually via a tube or channel that directs the water to a pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. From the pan, the water normally evaporates.

If the tube or channel is clogged or obstructed, the water backs up and leaks into the inside of the refrigerator/freezer compartment. Then the water builds up at the bottom, inside of the refrigerator. When the water has built up for a time it may spill out of the front of the door opening. To fix this problem, clear the drain tube or channel and allow the defrost water to flow down to the drain pan.

Ice at the bottom of freezer ice at the bottom of freezer, defrost water not draining

When the water has built up for a time it may spill out of the front of the door opening. To fix this problem, clear the drain tube or channel and allow the defrost water to flow down to the drain pan.

The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.
