Question about Casio Sea Pathfinder SPS2011V Wrist Watch

Casio illuminator, w-94h

Hi. I really need an expert here. I recently replaced a cr1616 battery in my watch and everything looks fine except it no longer makes beeps of any kind. I did not know how to unclip the old battery so I while battery side (6 clips to remove) then uncliped the battery clip from the other side. a tiny spring came out. There are only two hole it could have come out of and neither work (bring back the beep).

Thanks for your help.

There is a tiny spring that must make contact with the back cover plate when you screw it back on. If the spring is missing, the piezoelectric buzzer will not work. The tiny spring is located toward the upper right in this photo of a Casio W-94H watch, directly underneath the "C" in CASIO that is etched in the metal. Note that the word CASIO is upside down in the picture, so if you can't see the picture for some reason, the hole for the tiny spring would be directly above the "C" in CASIO.

I remember having to reset something using tweezers once the battery was in, making electrical contact.

Perform a reset by touching the AC contact with one part of the tweezers and the back of the battery with the other part. Hold for a few seconds.

I did have that problem. I just kept taking it apart and purring it together again and it eventually worked. Make sure that he back of the case is going on the right way. Also reset the watch. I think that there is a reset hole. That spring that you mention I think must make contact with an uninsulated part of the watch back.

Good luck.

Battery

The Casio Forester FT500WVB watch has an EL (Electroluminescent) backlight and requires one silver oxide button battery. The SR621W battery (also known as type 363) is recommended by the instruction manual for the watch. Note the suffix "W" means this battery is a high drain type which is suitable for powering a watch mechanism and the EL light as well for 2 to 3 years, depending on use of the light. "SW" suffix batteries are low drain and are intended only to power a watch mechanism, and not a light. Note also the "SR" prefix indicates the battery is silver oxide and not lithium. The SR type batteries do not use mercury and are therefore safer to dispose of when they are discharged. I have found the type SR626W (also known as type 377) battery is also suitable for the FT500WVB watch and it has more stored power and should therefore last longer.

Last, the Casio Forrester FT500WC looks exactly like the FT500WVB, but it is a different watch internally. The FT500WC has an LED light and requires two batteries- the SR920SW low drain silver oxide battery which powers the watch mechanism and the CR1616 lithium battery which powers the LED. The LED is brighter than an EL light and stays on longer than the EL light when activated. But the LED has a bright dot light source that some might find annoying.

My watch, Seiko Kinetic Auto-Relay (5J22-OD60), no longer holds enough energy to keep working overnight, the second hand starts moving at two-second intervals and it stops before morning.

You have a bad capacitor. You can either try to repair this yourself with a special upgrade kit for about $20 (and maybe screw it up) or pay an expert who will do it right for $67.

For an extra $20 he'll do a pressure test on it to be sure it is water-proof but since this is a pro you really don't need to worry about it on a non dive watch.

Beep and chime will not work

I think there would have been a minute spring coming from the back of the watch module to the backplate of the watch - this spring carried a vibration / beep which echoed off the backplate. Chances are you have damaged this spring during battery change - as i did with my gShock. Basically it's nackered!

New Battery but Alarm sound doesn't work

You will find an arrow head on the outside back of your watch where all the printing is. When you put this lid back on, this arrow needs to be aligned with a notch on the inside edge where the cover goes on. As you are looking at the watch from the back with the cover off this notch is in a northwesterly direction. If you doubt it then just hold the back on without popping it in all the way and hit your mode button to make sure that you hear the beeps again. If you do, then you've found the right spot.

Timex IndiGlo Ironman Triathlon - bell stopped working

You have lost the coilspring wich connects the watch mechanics with the speaker integrated in watch caseback. This is why you do not hear any sound but still can see the icon.
Check the area where you made the battery replacement very carefully- you may find that tiny spring. Use the magnet if necessary.
If you can not find it, go to the nearest watchmakers shop and ask to supply the new coilspring.
Do not forget to rate, please.

Invicta Speedway 9223 not keeping time

It sounds to me as it is a quartz chronograph and it is right that the centre seconds hand moves only if the pushbutton is pressed. If you look close enough, you will notice that the small subdial finger is ticking and counting seconds. It is recommended to replace battery, as sometimes watches been laying in stores for a few years before selling and the battery is flat or underpowered.

Battery issues,......

Hey all, here is a site that has good instructions on how to change the battery in your G-Shock watch. Sounds like you are suffering a low batt problem.

http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=20217

If you want to ensure you still have a the same water resistance rating, I do suggest that you take it to a watch guy to have it replaced for you. They clean switch contacts also and you keep water resistance rating. Good Luck and vote this as a "FixYa". Cheers
