I have a Kwikset Powerbolt1000 that is new, never used but sitting on display for quite some time. Put new batteries in it but it does not respond in any way

you need to press the connect button on your transmitter, then the connect button on the keyboard.
if that does not work, verify the transmitter is connected to the PC.

Kwikset 909 smart key - i replaced the batteries and now the beeps are super low and my code isn't working. tried changing the code but no luck


Are you sure the batteries you put in were good? I've bought supposedly new batteries that were almost dead.

Replaced batteries, now I am getting 3 sets of 2 loud beeps everytime I unlock the door with either code. Also the green light is continuously blinking.

will tell you that you will get a series of quick beeps when the batteries are installed correctly and making good contact.Conversely, the low battery indicator light on the power board will be lit when the batteries need replacement. Kwikset recommends that you use four quality alkaline AA batteries.
Also, Kwikset recommends that if your Powerbolt is beeping, that you take out the batteries and remove the powerstrip. Let it sit for one minute, then put the batteries back in and wait for another minute. If it does not beep, as in above for battery replacement, then the keypad needs to be replaced. If the unit beeps, then the powerboard needs to be replaced.
Is it at all possible that, when you replaced the batteries, you did not get the orientation correct for one or more of the batteries? Did you use new, brand-name alkaline batteries?
So, I've taken you through the steps that a Customer Service Rep is going to ask you before you make a call. If the problem still persists, then it's time to make that call. The number is 800 327-5625, Mon.-Sat. between 7:30-4:00. Pacific coast time. They should be able to assist you further with troubleshooting and parts.

My key pad does not respond at all, no beeps and does not lock or unlock door. Thought it was the batteries but I changed them and it still does not work. When I put the new batteries in it did flash...


There is only a one year warranty on the electronics and the maker (Stanley-Black and Decker) will not sell the electronic parts separately. Check the installation manual for a reset procedure - basically the lock might be "forgetting" it's programming. Another possibility is that it's trying to move the bolt and can't. Be sure the bolt moves freely.
If the electronics have failed and it's out of warranty, there are other brands that are key-compatible with Kwikset. Weiser locks can also be keyed to be compatible with Kwikset. You'll still have the same problem if the electronics breaks though. The main difference is that other brands don't move the bolt with battery power, they just enable it to be moved by hand.

Lock will not unlock with code


You do not indicate whether this is a new installation or an older lock that quit working.

Please read and review these instructions. If the battery is old, this is a good time to replace it.

I held the black button down untill it beeped and then reset the entry codes (they were compromised). Since then it beeps after an unlock code is entered, then it beeps a few times and will not respond to...


ok -- so you know about the black re-set button ( that saves me some time ),,
1. push and hold the black button untill it beeps 3 times -
2. enter your new code,, 4 to 8 digits and then press the 'LOCK' button.
it should now be programmed to your new code.
now if you want to add more codes to the lock -- just push the black button twice and enter next code and hit the ' LOCK ' button,,, this will store the next code.
make sure you test the lock several times so you do not get locked out.
also -- change your battery once or twice a year ( depending on use ) to be sure it never dies.
now the reason it does not respond to button function is because it goes into lock down mode after about 3 tries,, this is a security function of the lock,,, before you try the re-program - let the lock sit idle for 5 minutes or so,, also just to make sure the lock does not get over excited - remove the battery and let sit for a few more minutes,, ( this is just a extra step that I do out in the field whenever I encounter this problem ) --- and yes I am a locksmith.

I replaced the batteries. After inserting them back into the system, the lock does not operate. I have tried pushing program button 3 times and waiting 10 seconds, nothing. I removed the batteries again...

Wireless just stopped working. Changed batteries,


The behavior described indicates weak/dead batteries. Logitech brags about the battery life on this model, but in reality battery life varys dramatically between invidual units. I've seen one that would not operate at all on Ni-Cad rechargable batteries (only 1.2 volts even at full charge). If you must use rechargeables, stick with NiMH (metal hydride). Better yet, use long life lithium.

Also, make sure the "Nano" receiver isn't sitting in the storage bin. This is one of two ways to power off the mouse. The other is the 'Clip N Go' dock.

6. Resetting the code: - please follow these instructions to reset the code on your Powerbolt 1000 unit:
  • Remove the inner cover plate from the lock.
  • Locate the small round program button near the left side of the circuit board (Red or Black).
  • To program, the latch should be extended out in the lock position, press the reset button once, then enter your 4-8 digit code on the exterior keypad, then immediately press the middle lock button on the exterior keypad. You will hear a beep. Re-enter the same 4-8 digit code to confirm, the latch should retract. This completes the programming. This signals that your code has been accepted.
  • To enter a second code, follow the same procedures as in step 3, but this time press the reset button twice then enter your code.
7. Replacing the batteries: - please follow these instructions to replace the batteries on your Powerbolt 1000 unit:
  • Remove inner cover plate located above the thumb turn on the inside of the door
  • Replace all 4 batteries with quality alkaline AA batteries. (Do not use rechargeable batteries.)
  • Ensure that the batteries are correctly oriented or unit will not function properly.



8. Changing the password code: - please follow these instructions:
  • Manually put the bolt in extended (lock) position. Press PROGRAM button once, enter new 4 - 8 digit code and then press LOCK.
  • Press PROGRAM button twice, enter the same new code and then press LOCK once.
  • Press PROGRAM button three times, enter the same new code and then press LOCK once.

    These stept will program only the new code you enter for your unit.
9. Why is my Powerbolt 1000 unit beeping? - To determine why your lock is beeping, please follow these steps:
  • Take out batteries and unplug powerstrip.
  • Let is sit for 1 minute then put the batteries back in and wait another minute.
  • If it does not beep, the keypad needs to be replaced (17733-1).
  • If the unit beeps, the powerboard needs to be replaced (A17734-4,3 Powerboard 1460 brass finish; A17734-4,26D Powerboard 1460 satin chrome finish; A17734-4,5 Powerboard 1460 antique brass finish; A17734-4,11P Powerboard 1460 bronze finish).

Near new lock not functioning


i had the same problem. i called the company and they told me it was toast. if yours is fairly new, they should replace it for free. they will need some numbers of your lock so they can tell how old it is. if they will not fix it, i recommend getting a schlage be365, that is what i got when my kwikset quit working. i love it, and the batteries in it last a very long time because the power to turn the bolt is your hand, not a motor.
