The TV will automatically display 4k content as long it receives a 4k signal through HDMI input or you play a 4k video on a USB device.

Not always some TV's you have to manually set the HDMI port or allow certain protocols such as hdcp 2.0 of 2.2

  • Raj Patel Mar 29, 2019

HDCP is an encryption method and the TV will have hardware to handshake with the sending device to authenticate the 4k signal. This authentication needs to occur within 7ms of the signal being received so a bad/cheap and/or excessively long HDMI cable can prevent authentication.

First of all we cannot tell how you got to that screen. Was it an error that made that screen appear? How do you have it connected and what is it connected to? There are many devices out there that dont send out 4K to the televisions. You have to have 4K DVD players, cable boxes and channels! Etc.

The TV is an RCA AND THE MODEL NUMBER IS RTU4300 it's a 43 inch 4k UHD TV

XBOX one X is 4K and XBOX one s is upscaled to 4 k. IF you are using a 4k game on the one x then it is true 4k, if it is on a one S then it is upscaled, if you are using a non 4 k game then the unit on both those xboxes upscales to psuedo 4k. IF you are using a straight xbox one then it is not 4K. There is no settings you can access in the television to affect that.

SOURCE: MY RCA DRC 8320n DVD Recorder/VCR Combo will not

Yah, you're going to be taking that in for repair. I worked for couple of years at RCA / Sony / Panasonic / ... and 60 more names - service center. When a VHS Cassette loading mechanism doesn't work - it probably needs loading motor or loading gear, something repaired. At the cost of DVD and VHS combos these days I'd call it Not Worth Repair (NWR) out of the starting gate. At least $50 an hour, at least 2 hours ... that's beyond the cost of a new one.

I bought a blueray player that only has HDMI out put but the older TV I have only has component input (red, white & Yellow RCA plugs) and an S-video input plug. Is there a cable that will connect

There are no cables that will do this. You will need a digital HDMI to analog (composite or S-video) converter box. The video output will drop from 1080p to 480i. Here's one option: http://www.gefen.com/kvm/gtv-hdmi-2-compsvidsn.jsp?prod_id=11402 . You will need the HDMI and RCA composite video cables separately. A cheaper version is here: http://www.amazon.com/Portta-Composite-Toslink-Converter-Blue-Ray/dp/B00GH92V8C . This one may need a power adapter purchased separately.

However, HDCP (high definition copy protection) will prevent you from watching some videos with the either of boxes. Most commercial Blue-ray movies have this Digital Rights management feature added to them. Some DVDs may be also have this enabled.

I hope this helps.

(unfortunately, the HDCP is written to block any viewing of content with analog monitors. You may be better off looking for a new TV or a PC monitor with an HDMI input. The lower end of these do not have speakers so you'd need PC speakers connected to the audio out on the monitor.)

No video at all!

I recommend you switch from using HDMI cables to using component (R/G/B RCA-style) cables. HD picture is superior through component cabling, and solves several HD picture issues, including HDCP (High Def Copy Protection) through HDMI issue. Component cabling should eliminate this problem.

I hope that helps.

I recently purchased a blu-ray player and when hooking it up through the hdmi outputs, i cannot get a signal. hooking it up with regular rca cables works, but that's not what having hi-def is about....

That shouldn't make too much of a difference (or maybe im just being ignorant). If the bluray player was cheap, you may need to plug in via rca and then adjust the settings on your player to output to HDMI.

Hope this helps

Dell w3000 & PS3

This may not be DVI issue.
I connected DVD player HDMI ----> DVI ( Dell W3000) LCD TV.
Later I found that Dell TV version of DVI does not support HDCP protocol ( High Definition Content Protection protocol). So I could not play HDMI to DVI movies from my DVD player instead I use Y Pb Pr -- this works ok.

Hope this helps... I am not use PS3 enforces HDCP - I assume Sony linked with Sony Pictures would enforce HDCP on HDMI cable.
