Question about Husqvarna Sewing Machines
I am working on a Husqvarna Platinum Plus sewing machine and see that the soft touch front button panel has a flat wire lead going right into the back side of the removed panel and has no way of taking this off the the plastic machine cover by screws or otherwise. I need to service the flat wire connection embedded in this area and have to remove the soft touch pad from the plastic front cover on the machine. Does anyone have experience in this? Do I use heat to soften the adhesive and remove soft touch panel the from front machine cover?

Make sure that your machine is set to sew forward. The reverse button on your machine should have a spring loaded return. If the spring is in place, and doesn't appear stretched, try a drop (just a drop) of sewing machine oil. Please use sewing machine oil. Not WD-40, or any other household oil. If the machine hasn't been serviced in a while, or used alot recently, they knob may need to be "reminded" that its supposed to go in and out. :) After applying the oil, push the knob in and pop it back out like you have been. If nothing else is wrong, it should loosen up and move freely.

The plastic dries out over time, and this is what may have happened. You could probably remove it by exerting a great deal of force, but will most likely break either the cam itself or the part where the cam is inserted. You could try squirting a little lubricant (maybe Tri Flow?) and leaving it for a while to penetrate before trying again to remove the cam. Otherwise, it would be best to take it in to a repair shop where an expert can work on it and maybe replace any parts that are no longer working properly.

Hi, there is no top cover on this machine. First the side cover has to come off then the back cover. Under the back cover there is a rigidity plate with many screws that has to come off and then you might be able to get at the take up lever mechanism. I'm not saying you can't do this but it might just be the time to have a tech go in and service this machine completely.
The thread must have slipped out of the end of the takeup lever and wound in the mechanism. It happens.
If you feel you want to do this yourself feel free to contact me and I can walk you through getting the covers off.
Possibly you can get a tweezers or needlenose pliers in through the front slot, grasp the thread and turn the handwheel bit by bit and see if it will unwind as you pull it out.

Hi, yes they just come off. I usually slide a small screwdriver behind them and gently pry them out.
There is also the cover on the handwheel that needs to come off by taking maybe a needle and prying that off from the edge. Then you will see a couple more screws. A small one and a big black one. There is also screws under the machine.
Hope I helped.
