Hello Brian,
There is no reboot button on this unit. To reboot the receiver, simply unplug AC power for 30 minutes, then while plugging back in press and hold the power button for 5-10 seconds at the same time to reset.
Check all the speaker wiring for shorts, make sure they're also not touching the chassis of the receiver, or are not otherwise pinched or frayed. If all looks well, try disconnecting all the speakers and cycle the power off, then on again.
Try connecting the speakers one at a time until one of them shuts the Audio down. Check this speaker with a multi-meter and make sure it is reading between 4-8 ohms.
If not, the speaker may be blown and is causing the receiver to short out and therefore power the audio down.
If you still cannot get any audio through the system, then it likely has bad output transistors, or capacitor and is in need of service.

SOURCE: my kenwood 107VR keeps turning off on its own,

If you are sure your speakers are good. This unit has a protect circuit keeping the unit from turning on. This recevier uses an ic instead of output transistors. A ic incorperates transistors, resistors, capactors in one assembly for size and costs. There is a number right on the front of the ic ,you can go on-line to buy the ic is is fairly easy to put in as long as you can desolder and solder in.

SOURCE: My Kenwood 107vr turns off

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

You shouldn't hook things up and guess how they work.

BTW "KRV1074" doesn't bring up a valid link anywhere in the universe except your request.

Try finding the manual here...

My system is blocked on secuirity code enter when i switch it on and i don't have the code. My car stereo is a Kenwood KDC-MP638U. happened when i removed it from one car to another car. have tried using...

Many Kenwood radios are configured with the same security codes:

  • KCAR - This seems to be a "backdoor" to some Kenwood models.
  • 3051 - This is the security code which is printed in the manual of many Kenwood models.
  • 1234 - This is a security code commonly chosen by Kenwood owners.
A Security Code Bug in Some Kenwoods

There is a reported bug in the security code handling of some Kenwood stereos. In models with thie bug, the security code is stored incorrectly. The workaround is to enter the wrong security code.

In models with this bug, you have to decrement the third character of the security code by one. If your security code was 1111, you would enter your security code as 1101. If your security code was 9999, you would enter 9989.
Finding the Kenwood Security Code

There are backdoor codes for each Kenwood car stereo, based upon the model and the serial numbers.

These backdoor codes are closely held secrets. Outfits like Car Audio Accessories UK will sell you the code for your radio for £20.
Sending your RadioBack to Kenwood

If all else fails, you can send your stereo back to Kenwood to have the security code reset.

Kenwood 107VR rec and No vol from Sub Output w/ menu Opt On

In the setup menu are the speakers set to large or small? On some receivers if you have it set to large all the bass is directed to the right-left fronts.
On my pioneer receiver if the speakers are set to large the sub-pre-out only works if the receiver is in a surround mode, if its in stereo mode and the speakers are set to large the sub-pre-out is dead. If the speakers are set to small the sub-pre-out works all the time.
Also, some receivers won't send a signal to the sub-pre-out if there is no LFE discreet signal info from the dolby digital or dts bitstreem.
For example I have several older dvd's that light up the L C R SL SR icons on my receiver, but don't light up the LFE icon. I have other older dvd's that just light up the L and R icons meaning they are only recorded in stereo like a vhs tape recorded in dolby surround.
In my basement I also have a kenwood dolby digital receiver.
I've noticed that when a dvd only lights up the left and right icons the pioneer will automatically switch to dolby pro logic surround. The kenwood will only send the signal to the left and right fronts (stereo). If I manually switch it (kenwood) to dolby pro logic I'll get sound from all the speakers just like the pioneer, but it does'nt do it by itself.
Most receivers that have a tape monitor won't work in surround mode with the tape monitor on. The pioneer will let me use the tape monitor with dolby pro-logic but won't pass through a dolby digital signal with the monitor on.
Hope this helps.
