Question about Whirlpool Gold White-on-White 21.9 cu. ft. Conquest Side-By-Side Refrigerator with Ice and Water GD2SHAXLQ Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Defrosts/refreezes I have a 5 year old Whirlpool fridge. About 4 months ago, I noticed there was water in the back of the fridge under the area where there's a hole from the freezer to fridge. I put a bowl under it and every few days, there'd be a frozen ice chunk in the bowl usually surrounded by water. There would usually be a thin layer of frozen water in the freezer area too. But I never noticed anything being warm. Today when I came home, I opened the fridge and everything was defrosted... there was water in the freezer bottom again and all the ice was melted. So, I'm assuming my fridge is defrosting and refreezing on a periodic basis? Any clue what could be causing this?

the water is coming from the freezer when is defrosts. the drain line is in the back wall of the freezer and may be clogged up with ice. clean out the freezer and pour some hot water in the very back of the freezer, this will hopefully unclog the drain. if not, then you have to take the back wall out of the freezer to get directly to the drain line. there should just be a couple screws holding it; it is just an aluminum or plastic panel.

I thoguht I had posted the solution. repeating now ask for estimates/ inference from thre persons and deccide for only low cost of repair. If your fridge is more than 5 years old do not proceed specially if the pumping of the compressor is down. Go for a good exchange with a the modern enerrgy effficient models as you can choose from good economic/ luxury ranges and give you about 5-7 years warranty.Invest Well. Good Luck

Your fridge is simply not defrosting itself or moving air off the freezer coil. Try defrosting it and make sure the fan is operating. If the brains have been replaced already i do not think you should have to deal with them again unless consumer reports suggest otherwise.

Whirlpook ET21NK--Water collecting in crispers

Self-defrosting refrigerators turn themselves off to defrost once in each 24-hour cycle. There is a 'drip pan' under the refrigerator that catches water from this automatic defrost cycle. The pan is not very deep, so if the unit is leaning very much, water will run over the top of the pan. For this and other reasons, you should try to keep the unit as level as possible.

Flooding when freezer defrosts

Make sure the refrigerator is level and the drain tube is not clogged. This is the most common cause of water pooling.

Whirlpool refrigerator w/ top freeezer

It has a plugged defrost drain. You may need to defrost for 24 hours with unit unplugged and doors open. UNPLUG FIRST!! f still leaks, you need to remove floor of freezer, then the back wall of freezer. Remove ice. At center rear under coils is the drain hole that is plugged up. Use hair dryer to melt ice. Pour hot water in this area to uncover drain. With hot water in area, you can put a 1/4 diam. hose or copper pipe in drain and blow into it while pressing down. It will slowly go through ice, clearing drain.
