Question about Canon CanoScan 4400f MultiFunction Color Printer

1 Answer

Will not scan

Hello--

I bought a used CanoScan and hooked it up, downloaded the drivers from Canon.usa.com, installed everything fine, I plugged it in, it was working. I wanted to scan a photo, pushed the 'Photo/Negative' button...nothing. Checked the connection, power, light, etc. All working.

None of the buttons work, actually. Is there anything else I can try?

Ok, didn't realize there was a lock, found it. However, the unit is unlocked.

I contacted the person I bought it from, and found a way to scan photos by using the control panel in my PC. *That* works.

Unfortunately, the buttons still don't work.

Thanks for the tip though. Guess I'll have to return it.

Release the lock underneath the scanner. Had the same "problem".

I tried to use my Canon 4200f with windows vista 32bit and get the usual error.

Hello,
This scanner does work with Vista, as well as Windows 7. I have the exact same one. Goto Canon's website and download the latest driver for Vista. Here is the link: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_4200f#DriversAndSoftware
Download and install the driver and the CanoScan Toolbox software.

Hello hayduke247
You must absolutely make sure you are using the correct driver for the correct device :
Windows Vista / 7 :
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/scanners/film_negative_scanners/canoscan_5600f#DriversAndSoftware
Other Windows versions :
http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010652.asp
To correctly delete a program , use a specific tool rather than the windows deleting program : Download free RevoUninstaller from http://download.cnet.com/Revo-Uninstaller/3000-2096_4-10687648.html
If all this doesn' t work , your device is defective , not your software .
Best regards ,

Canoscan 4200f Problem with Vista 32 bit

I got mine working after experiencing the same problem.

I had mine hooked up to a USB hub, after I hooked it directly to the USB ports in the back of my computer, everything just worked fine.

Weird that it worked on the USB hub on XP and not vista though.

Downloading software (Twain??)

The download website for your scanner is here:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=351&modelid=8008

A TWAIN driver is simply a generic scanner software driver that your specific Canon software can hook into and use.

I recommend starting with this one and see if it installs the TWAIN driver you need:

"CanoScan Toolbox v2.2.3 for Windows 98/Me/2000/XP"
