Once the matrix is created you can use the reciprocal key to get the inverse.

I hope you will not hold against me if I showed the whole porocess. (No reflexion on your or anybody's abilities to create a matrix. Just trying to be helpful to more people.)

Press Menu to display icons.

Press 1 or use Arrows to highlight Run/Mat.Press EXE

Press the F1 key to activate the Mat TAB.

While a matrix label is higlighted press F3:Dim to enter the dimensions.

Matrix must be square.

Fill her up!

Press EXE after entering the last element.

Then press EXIT to return to the Run/Mat Screen.

In Run/Mat screen press the OPTN key. Press F1 to enter the Mat identifier

followed by [ALPHA] A (if the matrix you created is stored in A)

At this point the screen displays Mat A.

Any of the continuations of the command shown below will yield the inverse matrix.

The minus sign you see in the 2nd and 3rd commands below is the change sign (-)

For the bogus 2X2 matrix I entered, the result is as follows.

Notice that even if inside the answer matrix the elements are displayed as decimals, the

values you will see at the bottom are exact fractions.

First you have to create it.

Press the [MAT] icon to open the Matrix editor.

(The screen captures below may not look exactly as on your calculator but they are correct.)

On line Mat A use the right arrow to enter one dimension. Press EXE.

Hi Robert9004x2,

If you want to examine the matrix you want to inverse and, the one that is given you trouble pressing [2nd] [MATRX]. Then stroll and, select the one you want to look at by pressing, [ENTER]. You'll have to press, [ENTER] again and, matrix should display at the Home screen. At the Home when you get to them your looking for the ones that are not square, like 2 by2 or 4 by 4 etc. You might need to re-edit this matrix so, that it is square.

Your trying to invert a matrix that isn't square you might be using using the proper key sequence to create a inverse matrix. Here what the correct inverse matrix look on the Ti 84 Plus Home screen.

**And pictured below is a Matrix is being inverted by using the ^ and the -1 keys. Which to inverse a Matrix on the Ti 84 Plus you have to use the [x^-1] key.**

**This is not the proper way to inverse a Matrix on the Ti 84 Plus. The proper way to inverse of a matrix, the [x-1] key must be used, instead of pressing the sequence [^][-][1]. The [x-1] key is the official inverse key and is located right under the Math key. It is also the same key that you use to get to the matrix menus. The [^][-][1] sequence is only raising the matrix to the -1 power and, will cause an error too. If you need any more help, just post a comment and, I'll respond quickly.**

- Press [2nd] [X to -1] under [MATH[ to access the (Matrix) menus.
- Use right arrow to highlight [EDIT]
- Press [1:A] to edit (create from scratch) the A matrix.
- On the line MATRIX[A] line cursor blinks on 1
- Enter m dimension (3) and press [ENTER].
- Cursor moves to the second dimension (n). type 3.
- Press [ENTER].
- A 3x3 matrix template is displayed with A_11 element highlighted.
- Replace the value 0 with your value for A_11.
- Press [ENTER].
- Type a value and press [ENTER].
- When finished, press [2nd][QUIT] to exit the matrix editor.

Hello,

The error may be due to the key you used to signifie inverse. It says in the manual that you should use the key x^-1 not the one used to input general powers.

Here is screen capture from the Appendix to the manual. The picture shows the sequence of keys to press to obtain the inverse of a 2x2 matrix. It is taken from page 41 of Appendix

The matrix used in the exemple is

a_11=2 a_12=1 a_21=1 a_22=2

this happened to me as well. i looked it up and heres what i found:

basically you have a stat plot on so to turn it off, press 2nd and then the Y= button to get to "Stat Plot"

one of them is turned on so press enter and select OFF. this should fix the problem!

on a calc that's work properly, in the 'y=' screen, none of the 'Plot#' things are highlighted. try pressing 'y=', and if you have a 'Plot#" in a black box, go up to it and press enter to un-highlight it.

either it will work as soon as you press 'graph',or you have another problem
