Question about Kitchen Appliances - Others
I have a Kenmore fridge: 795.5101. The ice maker only crushes ice. I've taken out the ice bucket and as I look to the back of the freezer, I see a square hole. In there, I see a pin like item with a plastic square that is loose as well as a soft foamy square that has a black cylinder attached. I'm trying to figure out how to get the case off so I can place that thing back on. Suggestions?

SOURCE: Ice maker is not working
if you keep your hands out of the little beam slot on the paddel that is located on the left of the freezer and push it in the beam should shoot across to the reciever on the right and the light should stay on constant, that is if you have the switch on the right side turned on.
if it is turned on and the paddel is depressed and the light is still blinking the you need a beam kit part number 4389102

,first if you still have ice buildup get your hair dryer and heat it up and melt it,then remove the front off the icemaker, you have a cube size dial, turn it down and it will reduce the amount of water that goes into the icemaker,if that does no work go on ebay and pickup a univeral icemaker for around $50,hope this helped

You have one of three things wrong. The auger motor is frozen up, the ice bucket is broken or you need to dump out any ice, run warm water through the entire ice bucket, dry it out and try again with fresh cubes. My guess is the auger motor is frozen. You can buy a vinyl boot that covers the auger motor to prevent moisture buildup and freezing from GE Parts at 1-800-626-2002

Here I am going to give you a lot of information. Because of the leaking your defrost condensate drain is most likely the reason. All on the page below may not be for your situation and some refrigerators do this over a period of time and the the water has no were to go but the freezer during defrost. Testimonial: "Thanks Sea Breeze! The photos do show a bit of a different arrangement than what is on the back of my fridge but I'll try what you suggested."
