Check to make sure your drain hose is higher than the tank,if it's not it will drain while it's filling ,it's gets a suction going and won't stop, also make sure there are no kinks in the drain hose ,this too will create the same problem

SOURCE: WASHING MACHINE OVERFILLING

Suspecting the water level switch is the first step since this device controls starting operations. There is also a possiblity that the water level pressure hose has come off the tub. Make sure this plastic line is attached before replacing the level switch.

SOURCE: Hotpoint Washing Machine Model # VBXR1060T4WB Filling Problem

problem could be the pressure stat which is a switch which detects water level or the pipe leading up to this switch or the air chamber the pipe goes to.
take top off. locate the pressure switch - has a small diameter pipe going to it. remove pipe and fit a similiar one. put on fill and pressurise this pipe by mouth and water fill should stop. if it doesn't, then switch is faulty.
if this is ok, examine carefully the small diameter pipe for splits and blockage. also check the air chamber for build up of gunge

SOURCE: Washing Machine Keeps Filling with Water through Detergent dispen

This machine has a water valve that works on vaccuum from the tub. You will see a small clear hose that runs from the side of the tub up to this valve. This valve is adjustable to change the water level in the tub to desired setting on some machines, but if it goes bad, it will not shut off, thus overflowing the tub. Find this valve and replace it if adjustment does not work.

Whirlpool washer ,wtw4800xq2 sometime ,over fill, sometimes cloths twist up around agitator and sometimes won't spin out good

Intermittent overfill is an indication that the overflow detector hose is clogged. Open the control panel (unplug the machine first!) and remove the plastic hose from the water level switch. Blow into the hose - if you cannot get free airflow, try an air compressor (be careful not to rupture the hose or tank fitting with excessive pressure). Clogging is often the result of a buildup of gunk between the inner and outer tubs. The best thing I've found for removing this is to run the machine with no clothes in it, using CLR (follow the directions on the bottle for cleaning washing machines). The machine will smell better and clothes will be cleaner afterward. It will also agitate more effectively and drain more quickly.

Kenmore Washer only leaking from one area

Ive never worked on a Kenmore but it may just be the overflow outlet. All washing machines have an overflow which will dump water out from the top of the tub if it overfills but sometimes on high fill water level, clothes can splash around and cause a "wave" of water to splash out over the overflow outlet. Check to see if the leak only occurs when you have selected high level fill.

My wmd 1050 front loader won't continue with its cycle. It fills, does a few turns, empties and finishes., all in a few minutes. It doesn't seem to wash but will spin dry when manually put on a spin dry...

Are you sure the machine is not overfilling? next step after filling would be water heating - sounds like a water heating problem if machine spins and drains ok. Maybe a coin in the wash has punctured the element? water heater can be test for insulation / continuity if you have a high voltage tester, or remove it and examine if not by releasing the nut and pulling firmly. If it is scaled, holed or black replacement will be needed. Sometimes socks or clothing stuck on the heater cause localised overheating that will make it fail.

I am having 2 issues. Most importantly, my front load washer/dryer is skipping drying time. I typically wash the clothes then put dryer sheets in and use the dry only on low heat option. It starts...

Your two issues may be related. A combo washer / dryer uses a fine spray of cool water to condense moisture out of the air stream while drying. This water is then pumped down the drain. Cold water is also used to fill the softner dispenser. If the inlet screen on the cold water connection to the machine is restricted, those are two of several things which could show up. Turn cold water valve supplying water to machine off. Unscrew cold water fill hose from machine. Remove screen from inside machine, clean, re-install, re-attach cold water fill hose, turn cold water valve back on and see if performace improved.

The machine fills with water during drying cycle and does not fill for the wash cycle

First, did you know that this machine steam dries clothes? The first thing it does on the dry cycle is to wet the clothes which it then heats to dry with condensation. There are better answers regarding this feature on fixya. But assuming that the dry cycle is working as well as it ever does, it appears that your wash cycle is not functioning properly. I would need more info to figure out why it is not filling with water / working at all.
