Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Just purchased a used Canon PC981 copier w/ no manual. Can't get it to feed my pages to be copied through the top.Keep getting the paper jam signal-this goes away if I remove the paper - can you help?

It makes copies if I lift the top and place directly on glass, but will not feed to the glass-

The document feeder on this machine uses a separation and a feed roller ,the pad is on the bottom and the roller sits on top . in most cases the pad will be white if it is not it must be cleaned .use isopropyl alcohol. then clean the roller using water on a paper towel. On the tray issue if the paper is torn or nicked the sensor flag may be damaged if it is you will need a service call . if the paper is not nicked check to see if the default paper size has been programmed into the user settings on the copier [ read the owners man.] When you send a print to the printer go to printing preferences and check on the paper size being sent to the printer it must match the paper size loaded into the machine

try cleaning your pick up rollers but sounds like they need replacing, just clean them with window cleaner and rag

SOURCE: Copier jams after making one copy

Is the jam Physical? (Damaged lead edge where it may have caught some thing)
Is the jam Timing (paper if perfect, it just stopped.)
If it is Physical then you need to look for the obstruction, paper clip, staple, or small piece of paper. Check very carefully, remove any foreign matter and retry.

If it is a timing jam, the start by removing the paper, check inside the the paper feed area for foreign material, fan the paper and carefully reinstall it, making sure it is the right size paper for the paper cassette. if it has movable guides in the tray, be sure they are firmly against the paper on all sides.

Close up the machine and try again.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Line appears on copies when using the automatic feeder.

You have a piece of dirt or whiteout on the scanner glass. When the paper is moving by, it creates a "Line" if the paper is sitting still on the glass, it may be a dot or it may even use a different glass alltogether for ADF vs Paltten scanning.

SOURCE: HP 7410 streaks when using auto document feeder to make copies

Lift the cover of the fax/scanner/copier. The glass area has 2 sections, a small section and a large section. Clean the small glass section with damp cloth. I had 3 black streaks caused by 3 black dots on that glass. I also cleaned the rollers on the ADF, but that was not the problem.

The paper won't feed and the paper jam light goes

Wich copier model do you using?
My wild ques would be paper feed rollers. Try to clean them with alcohol and try to copy.

But still I would want to know the model.

You can also contact me on emma.servis@gmail.com, if its Canon copier.

I have a Canon PC790 and every time I try to copy, I get an error message in the paper select part of the control panel. I checked for a paper jam, seems like it isn't picking up the paper. I can't find...

Remove the paper tray and clean the feed rollers on the right side at top. I would use a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol on it. Make sure the rollers are dry before trying to copy again. Let me know your progress.
