HP Photosmart C6100 All-In-One Printer stopped printing black ink

Help!!! I have a HP Photosmart C6100 All-In-One Printer and it stopped printing black ink all together. I have tried 3 different cartridges, two being refilled/recycled cartridges and one was a brand new HP cartridges. Do you have any idea what has happened? Has using refilled/recycled cartridges messed up the printer? Is it worth taking in to get repaired if no one here has a solution?

Same problem just started on a Photosmart 3210 that I've been using for well ove a year. Can still print in color, but not black. Tried multiple new cartridges, cleaned print heads, reset, etc... no luck.

I have the same problem with my HP Photosmart C6180, black has stopped printing, all other colours print fine.
Done printhead clean, done factory reset, replaced HP black cartridge for a new HP black cartridge, all to no avail. taking back to Staples on Monday as it is still within warranty time, they say they will look at it and if they can't fix they will send it of for repair.

Please clean the print heads :

Press Setup up - Tools - Clean Print heads on the All-in-One.

If this does not resolve the issue , Reset the All-in-One.

Reset the All-in-One to the factory default settings by using these instructions:

1. Unplug the power cable from printer when the printer is powered on.

2. Press and hold OK and HELP buttons while plugging in the power cord.

If issue stil persists. Contact HP.

Hey - I have an HP Photosmart 3310 All-in-one and my black ink cartridge wasn't printing. I bought a brand new cartridge - and it still wasn't working.

So - I did the reset thing where you unplug the printer, wait 30 seconds, HOLD DOWN "#" AND "6" and plug it back in at the same time and PRESTO! the black ink is working again!

I had a problem with my C6180 today. After and hour on chat with the tech, I got the real factory reset procedure.
Hold down # and 6 on the number pad and plug in the power.
Fixed my printer that was stuck in a reboot loop.

Got that problem also, Black would not print but dark grey would be printed ???
What i did and it worked was reset to factory settings, unpluging the printer for ± 25 seconds
holding 3 and # for and other 25 seconds went and after pitting power back on
then re-enterring your setting, all went fine

How do you change the settings on a HP C6100 Printer to print in black ink only.

You can find the settings in the print driver software. Go into your Control Panel and right click on the C6100 in the Printers & Faxes section. Choose Properties, and go to either the Color Management or Advanced tabs. You should see an option somewhere for printing in Monochrome or Color -- select Monochrome (or it might say Grayscale) and save the change.

What is printhead failure on my HP Photosmart C6100 series printer? and how can I fix it permanently?

The print-head is the "heart" of an ink-jet printer -- it pulls the ink from the ink-cartridges, and sprays the ink onto the paper.

If the "manufacturer-warranty" has expired, it is time to buy a new unit, and to responsibly recycle the old unit.

HP PHOTOSMART C6100 All in One series ran out of yellow and for the first time since we bought it it did not give us the option to print in black only. Message says Ink System Failure...cannot print fax...

I called HP for troubleshooting assistance. My printer HP All- in-One is only 2 years old. They were very nice to run through a series of steps with me...only to tell me that "It is broken" and I will need to buy a new one. So that's my solution for today....Which leads me to the next question...Do I get another HP or something else??
